Binta and the Great Idea

Binta and the Great Idea

Binta and the Great Idea takes place in Senegal.

Conflict/problem- The conflict was how Soda was not allowed to attend school. Her father has an ethnic stereotype belief that every woman in the village must spend their time not in school but in house doing house chores.

Climax- the climax was when some of the children from the village performed a play in front of the village. The play was about Soda’s life, how she has been entreating her father to let her attend school. In addition, the play also focused on the necessity and importance of how education is to the new generation and how they can contribute to society by getting proper education.

Symbol- In my opinion, the bird symbolizes freedom and the letter symbolizes development.

Theme- been educated and able to attend school is not a matter of course. There are children all across the world who cannot afford to attend school even if they want to. Therefore, for those people who are attending school should take school work seriously for the children who can’t.
