Binta and the Great Idea

Setting: a small village in Senegal.

Conflict: Soda, Binta's cousin, always wanted to go to school, but her father did not let her to do so.

Climax: Children played a skit about a girl who wants to get education just like Soda, and after watching that, Soda finally got a permission from her father to go to school. In addition, her father's great idea; adopting a tubab (white kid) was permitted by the village's leader.

Symbols: The watch was a symbol of European culture.

Irony: A skit worked Soda's father to change his idea that women do not need to be educated.

Theme: Everyone should have a right to study at school. It does not matter if you are boy or girl.

I suppose the reason why UNICEF sponsored this video is to tell the truth to the world and make people realize that there are huge differences among countries.
