Binta and the Great Idea

Setting: A small village in Senegal.

Conflict/Problem: Soda always wanted to go to school but her father who was strict never let her go to school. Restricting Soda's freedom from going to school.

Climax: The kids in the village played a skit based on a girl who wanted to go to school to learn but her father did not let her go. Soda's father was there to watch the play and at the end he was convinced to let Soda go to school by the kids.

The great idea: For Binta's father to adopt a European child.

Symbol: The bird is a symbol of freedom and tolerant. The watch is the symbol of Europe.

Message: Everyone has the right to go to school whether you are a girl or boy. Also, nowadays things can be done by machines and technology but what is important is to play teamwork. Helping each other out seems the important message from the film.
