I will write about a short movie called 「Mermaid」.This movie was written by Osamu Tezuka.
There are two main characters in this story, a boy and a mermaid.
The relationship is that the boy likes the mermaid.
This story takes place in a country where imagination is prohibited.
One day the boy rescued a fish, then the fish turned into a mermaid. He brought the mermaid back home. But his parents cannot see the mermaid and gets very worried.
Then the police comes and arrests him. The police do things to the boy so he cannot imagine anymore. He loses imagination. He cannot see the mermaid anymore. Finally he goes into the ocean with the fish, then the fish turns back to a mermaid again and swam away together.
The conflict is 「the boy's imagination」 versus 「the country that prohibit imagination」.
I think that he was already dead when his imagination got back.
I think Osamu Tezuka was trying to tell us that imagination is very important for children and adults tries to deprive children's imagination in these days.
