Transgendered people in Thailand

1) Why are there so many transgender people in Thailand?
I think the actual rate of transgender people is the same in any countries. There are just so many people who regard themselves as transgendered and have told that to the world in Thailand. In the countries where transgendered people do not have the same rights as non-transgender people or many people have biased view against them, ones may hesitate to give out that they are transgendered even if they know that they are. Furthermore, ones who do not know what transgender is can not regard themselves as transgendered even if they feel uncomfortable with their bodies. There are many transgender people in Thailand, because they have the same rights as other people and many of them are open-minded to them.

2) What do you think about transgendered people and their civil rights?
I think that transgendered people basically have to be given the same rights as other ones. However, it can cause difficult problems in some cases, for example, adaptation. In countries where many people have a prejudice against them, a child who has been adopted as a family member of a transgendered couple may not be treated well in society or school. Therefore, these problems have to be treated carefully.
I hope that studies on transgender people will be more developed in order to let them have many ways to solve their concerns.
