Firstly, he believed the mermaid, but after torture, he began to forget her. He struggled with that, but he finally forgot and couldn't see mermaid in water tank.
climax : When he completely forgot the mermaid and went back home but can't see her. He recognize the mermaid just as fish.
Symbol : The mermaid is symbol of freedom. In that country, imagination was prohibited. But He struggle with that law and insist the existence of mermaid. After he tortured and he lost freedom, he become not be able to see me mermaid.
Irony : Even he tried not to forget her, but finally, what he saw in the water tank was just fish.
Theme : To imagine freely is good. Freedom mustn't be banned.
