Apple vinegar

I went to the exceelsior cafe near my house to do my report but ended up leaving in less than an hour without finishing any of my report because the apple vinegar i had was sooooo sour. I bought it out of curiosity and I know its good for health but i honestly prefer something like tea or juice. I dont like coffee either, and i am drinking a cup of coffee every night to become used to it. However, I still cant drink coffee without it being mostly milk because it tastes so bitter. I just got over carbonated drinks and i hope i can get over bitter and sour drinks too haha

My friends from NYC

My good friends that went to New York for college are coming over for a visit.

I can't wait to see them and hang out.
Just a test and report away from my summer break!

I hope this summer is gonna be good.

I'm out of it!

I was in bed with a little headache this afternoon. I might have got heatstroke, but I still feel something is wrong with my trachea and lungs. I was supposed to get prepared for the up coming exams, but I wasn’t able to concentrate on reading letters even in Japanese. My tired brain wouldn’t do anything so I can’t help going back to sleep. I’ll just say tomorrow is another day.

My adorable pet

I have three caterpillars now, all of which are green. They, born on the Japanese pepper trees, eat orange leaves maybe reluctantly because I keep feeding them on orange leaves. I feel sorry for them, but I'm waiting for them to turn into beautiful butterfly successfully. They will unless they are already invaded by maggots or other small insects...

IE

Today was the last day of IE core.
In April, I was worried if I can get along with this class and keep up with others. Now, I feel like this class is just like the class in high school, and I really like the atmosphere of this class.
Thankyou so much!!!!!!!!

I wanna have some fun!!

It’s summer. I want to go somewhere like the beach or summer festival but I have club all the time and don’t have time!!  But I want to play with so many people!! My schedule for my club isn’t out yet and I can’t plan my private things!!!

So if my schedule comes out, I’ll put in many plans and I hope to see people from IE in the summer vacation too!!! :)

French.

I had a French test today.
It was horrible because we had the final presentation in this class, and I didn't have time to study for the test.
By the way, I am so glad that our final presentation went pretty well. It was fun taking survey to many people!!

Jurassic World 🦖🦕

I would share something interesting to make you feel fun even tho it’s the final exam week.
On Sunday my family and I went to see Jurassic Work, which was just released in 5days. My review is that I liked the movie and it makes me feel like having dinosours in my house. But one thing I don’t like about the movie is in that it uses too much CG technology, which makes me tired of in the middle of the story. I know CG has a big impact on the impression of the movie. This time I noticed using it too much might work in the wrong way. Overall, I like the movie because I’ve been found into dinosours since I was 6.

Why is it soooo hot!!!!

Recently, i think it’s too hot for humans to live. It’s like 35 degrees Celsius and that almost our body temperature!! I’m burning up everyday and sweating like crazy.

What’s really disturbing is that when I’m practicing cheerleading, the air conditioning is not on, and we have to be in the gym with only four fans.

French test

I was going to stay up all night for the french test but i went to sleep before finishing all the test range. I hope i do well but.... lolol

By the way, happy birthday Moe!!!

Spanish exam day

Good morning‼︎
Today is a big day because I have a spanish final exam!!!!!! The harder I study for it, the more concern I will have. Ok.. I’ll do my best on it. Wish me luck.

Too hot

It's too hot to be productive and get ready for exams... All I wanna do is buy like 10 ice creams and eat them all while I watch Netflix all day. Anyways, good luck on our presentations today and exams ahead of us!

The topic everyone is going to talk about

WOW EXAMS ARE STARTED FROM TMRW
AND I AM TOTALLY READY

I AM SUPER EXCITED

HONESTLY

WHO WOULDN'T BE RIGHT?
HAHA

GREAT. FUN. ENJOYABLE EXAMS.

In stores now.

#KillMeNow

I think I’m crazy~~~~~~~~~.

Oh yes oh yes yassssssssssss.

Digital Art Museum

Yesterday, I went to a digital art museum with my friends and senpais from a squash racket team.

I acted like a one-year-old, but I think it was okay.

Since it was the middle of the longer weekend, it was so crowded, but still, it was a lot of fun!

Also, we got lost a few times ;)

last day?

I didn't like the amount of hw we did in this class, but I really love everyone it his IE3 class.
I felt being myself in this class and felt so happy every one were helping each other.
We learned tons of things in this class I wish we could take the same class again in somewhere...
Let's hang out someday:)

and we're looking forward for our final presentation!!!!! Good luck for us

Test

So tomorrow is the presentation day in the IE class and I think many students are preparing and being kind of nervous.  But tomorrow there quite many tests and  I know many of my IE friends are struggling with it.

I hope everyone gets through the test with a good score.
Let's do this thing!!!!!!!

Hot Hot

Ok, this weekend was hell hot. It was impossible to go outside, so I just stayed home and spent my whole day in my room.

And for today, I couldn't stop sweating for about ten minutes!! This frustrates me that no one in the class is sweating like I do......

Stomatitis

I have stomatitis now. I think it is because of my bad eating habit. Please be careful for the balance of what you eat.

Please Help Me

The Reading I Report's due is coming but I have no idea what to write
In addition, I have to prepare for tomorrow's presentation and French exam and I don't have time to do it.
Anyway, I hope our presentation and my exam will go well tomorrow!

and Happy Birthday, Moe🎉

working hard with my group!

working with my group environment in the pc room!!!

Presentation

Maria, Eri, Mayu and I are doing final preparation work. I can’t believe that we are doing it tomorrow 😢 I hope we could make a success ...

Uncolorful macarons

Today was my 19th birthday!
Since I don't like cakes that much, My family bought me macarons instead.
Only my favorite flavor was chosen, so it was really nice 😋
(The problem is that my favs don't look cute. Caramel, pistachio and chocolate isn't the best choice for a photogenic box.)

First time having my nails done

I had my nails done at a proper nail salon for the first time. I went there because my mom had a coupon or something, and I just went with her. Her nail turned out to be really cute and smooth but mine had a bunch of bubbles in them. I was not sure if I should say anything but i liked the color so I was satisfied lol  Im thinking about getting a machine to do the nails because going there every month seemed too expensive

Akasaka

On Saturday, there was a festival in Akasaka, so I went there. However, when I got out from train station, it was too hot for me that I couldn't even walk outside, so I stayed in cool shops to cool down.

Asakusa

Today I went to Asakusa with my team members from Shanti Shanti.
"Shanti" means "peace" (in some language. I forgot.) and it's a volunteer circle with over 300 members. I belong to a team going to Ehime this summer.
Since we hadn't known about each other yet, we had a nice time chatting and doing lots of fun things together.
It was soooo hot so we ate both ice cream and shaved ice. 😋
I'm excited for spending quite a long time with them during the summer vacation!

Steam summer sale

I bought some computer games on Steam, platform which offers computer games. In the ealy July, there was a summer sale which discount many of the games up to about 70% off.

day off

It's been a while since I last had a full day off that I don't have school or work. My cat woke me up at like 9 probably because I never sleep that late. I want to rest and just watch Netflix all day but I have so much to do. But the problem is I don't know what I should do first uhhh the struggle is real.

Test

Test week is coming, and I have to study French for next week’s final exam.  I can’t understand French so I have to study a looooot. I hope I can pass it😣

Lingwave party (last week)

We had a cruising party the other day. Many people dressed up in yukata, but i didnt lol They had drinks and snacks and was a lot of fun. It was a big party where many people from other universities could join as well. I didnt make any new friends though hahhahahahhh

Response to everybody's blog post since I lack in creativity

Yeah, I know. What is wrong with the weather. I don't understand either.

Yeah, I feel you. Not enough sleep here either.

Yeah, I feel you too. I don't know how much I should be studying for the tests.

The main is though...why can guys lose weight so easily...
I'm trying to get a summer body over here but it's not working at all.
Maybe I should cut down on sugar but since I have low blood pressure, I need the sugar to keep me going, especially during the summer.

Anyways, it's 1am already. I have more "stuff" I need to work on.
Imma end it here.

Annnual passport

These days, I'm wondering whether I should buy the annual passport for Tokyo Disney Resort or not.
Few days ago, my senior said that he had the passport last year and enjoyed visiting the park. He tried to persuade me to buy it too after I told him I live near Disney Land and my commutation ticket includes Maihama Station. I've always wanted to have the annual passport so I was moved by his words. Sadly however, I think I cannot spend too much money for Disney because there are other things I want to do...but I'm determined to buy it at least once before I die

Grandma's visit

My grandma is visiting tomorrow!! I haven't seen her since this spring. Last time, I went to Hyogo with my mom but this time she will come to my home from Kobe.
Grandma and I will go to watch a musical "Evita" and we are really excited because our favorite actor, Ramin Karimroo is appearing the show.
I hope everyone will have a great weekend!

Happy happy happy

I got an autograph from my favorite photographer that takes photos of my favorite band....
I got sooooooo excited and maybe I’ll go see him again this week lol(The photo exhibition is held in Seibu Shibuya)

Also I watched Greatest showman at my house which I really really loved it
Oh-oh-oh~~~~ This is me!!!(can’t stop singing this song)

busy busy busy

I'm really busy this month. I wish I dad more time to study for my tests. I have no idea what is the structure of the tests and how much I have to study for them. I'm going crazy. I hope I can survive until summer vacation.

Morning Inokashira Line

Akane and I use the Inokashira Line to go to school, and we tend to be on the same train.
The weird thing is, the day I got late is usually the day Akane gets late, and the day I left my house a bit earlier is the day Akane left her house earlier as well!
I guess it’s a miracle. Let’s see what would happen today:)

Being on time

I’m awful at waking up on time.
Especially on days when I have classes on the first period, I tend to skip breakfast.
I think I’m tired of the club and the reports.

Disney

Today, many brand new shows are starting at Tokyo Disneyland and Disneysea. I have two really close friends who I always go there together, and they both have annual pass and work at Disney Resort. They’ve been trying to persuade me to get annual pass for a while now. I seriously think I should get it

So sleepy!!!

I’m always sleepy and don’t have enough sleep!!
Yesterday, I had a report that I had to turn in, and Mayu, Maria, and I stayed up late to finish it! That night, I only had an hour of sleep so after I went home after attending first period, I slept until 5pm!!
When I have club activities, I go home at 12 o’clock and do my homework, so I always can’t have enough sleep. I with to have some sleep during the test week.....

what's going on with the weather?!

In the morning it rained so badly in Omotesando and many people got wet so badly. Luckily I had my own umbrella so I nearly didn’t get wet at all but some of my classmates were soaking wet.
It was raining so badly in the morning but so hot in the noon
What’s going on to the earth?!

Rain

Today I had no idea it was gonna rain that I left home without my umbrella and guess what happened? It started raining stronger and stronger as I get closer to school. I got soaked in the rain on my way to aogaku from Shibuya station. Started my day with tragic but it ended happily so its okay:)

Blood donation

Last Thursday, I donated my blood for the first time. Because my weight is under 50kg, 200ml is the only choice.

Meg

A movie called "The Meg" is going to be shown this summer. This movie is a shark movie which shows a huge shark and it seeems interesting.
Today I celebrated my friends birthday!!! We could able to eat the dinner that is actually  4000yen to 2000yen. I did the birthday plate thing for the first time, and it went well 🤤 it was fun

Calling

The next day of the event I was able to call my good friend, that I couldn't call for the past two months.   We had a great time and got some updates from her.
I am planning to see her in August and I just cant wait.

Tanabata

Some of my friends were cruising on the July 7th, but for me, I was at the Tanabata event at Tokyo Daijinnguu.
It was my second time to take part in that event and it was great.
This time I was able to get some good luck charms that I was not able to have last year.

Recommendation for Netflix

Here is a question. If you are a Netflix user, do you have any recommendation to watch? Recently there is no update in my favorite series such as stranger things and riverdale so I’m kind of getting bored. I like any kinds of movies and dramas. If you have your favorite one on Netflix, plz let me know:))))

crusing⛴

On Saturday I went cruising with Maria, Akane and Risa and enjoyed the nice night view around Tokyo-bay. It was one of the event organized by lingwave, so I could have a lot of conversation with other Aogaku students. I wish I can join another one someday.

squash competition

I had my first squash match yesterday. I was so nervous that I really wanted to cry before my game. My first opponent was a girls from Gakushuin and she is a beginner just like me. We had a great game and I won.
My next opponent was from Tokai university. She beat me very easily!!!
It was a really good experience for al of us, and I'm happy we became friends after the match.

Strengthened surveillance

My mom starts to go to the trampoline gym, which is good for her health, but which is not good for my mental health. Earlier this month, she was asked to come with her boss, so she took a trial lesson at the gym in Shibuya. Though she hesitated to go there at first, she found jumping on the trampoline exciting. I know her boss’s care for her employees is nice, however, her boss has given her opportunities to commute to Shibuya more frequently. I’m already suffering from my dad’s walking around Shibuya station every weekday and my mom’s wandering around the station at least twice a week. If my mom starts to come to Shibuya besides her working days, it is more likely to see my parents outside. Oh no, I feel like they are keeping an eye on me!

Audition for team A

Last Sunday, I had an audition for the cheer team. It was to decide the members of the A team for the nationals coming up in the late summer.
We were tested for dancing, tumbling, jumps, stunts and more. Only 16 people out of 38 can make the team. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make the team but the team made was a really great team and one freshman made the team!! I’m so happy for her! :))

My stomach is heavy again...................................................................................................................................................................................

Since yesterday, I’ve been having a heavy stomach :( I don’t know why :O

The weird thing is that I feel hungry even when my stomach is upset :O

Maybe because I’m old......
Recently I haven't got chances to go to my favorite place, Tokyo Disney Resort.
When I was in high school I was going there for almost every month, but now I've never gone there since I entered university!!
It's just 4months but I feel like I haven't been there for years and I miss everything.
I can't wait for the Halloween season because I've been planing with my best friend to go there dressed up in Disney costumes since last year!

Hello

I’m sucking on a lollipop 🍭 right now because I can’t wait for dinner. Pelo pelo pelo pelo pelo.

My mom is preparing dinner in front of me, and that makes me hungry!

Today, I have no homework which is due tomorrow! I’m so happy~~~~~!

From last week, my throat hurts so bad, and when I woke up yesterday and tried to talk to my mom, I wasn't able to speak... I went to a doctor then, and I got a little better, but I still cannot speak. I hope it will get better today...

Wedding

I went to a wedding ceremony today in Sophia Uni for the first time.
The song which was sung during the sermon was my favorite Cristian song and made me cry.
My teacher was so beautiful and looked very happy with her husband.

Wish I could have a ceremony like that in the future♡

I did nothing today and I'm proud of it

I haven't had a day where I stayed at home the entire day doing nothing for such a long time.

Well, today was that day.

I order 5 meals from urber eats today and sat on my sofa watching netflix and youtube.

Life is great:)
Ive been sick and I when out and now I feel sick again.
Going to lay down for 2 days and see what happens for Tuesday class

My little tragedy

Yesterday, I was riding my bicycle alone and suddenly, I somehow fell down on the ground.
My bag flew out from the bike's basket and I felt so miserable getting up, picking my bag up and getting the bicycle up all on my own.
And it hurt soooo much :(

Saturday

Yesterday, I went to the large music festival in Chiba. It was awesome that I get to see my favorite artists right in front of me. But the festival was held more than ten hours, so my muscles hurts very badly now :(

Saturday, July 7, 2018

I've been living alone since yesterday because my mon went to Osaka to watch a musical with my grandmother and my father is working in Miyazaki. I ate and slept with my dog and I'll take him for a walk when I get home.
I hope she will bring some delicious foods or sweets tonight.

Typhoon coming?

I heard on the news that it's gonna pour for the next few days.

I don't know about you but I hate rain..especially typhoons because they mess your umbrella up and your shoes get soaked with water.

Everyone...you should get ready for these next few days of disaster. Or maybe not since the typhoon might go away. My fingers are crossed.

Sleep

I want to sleep. I am always sleepy 😴
Wish I hadn’t the lecture from first period....

Something like home

Summary
The video was about interview who run away from their home because of the war.

The meaning of the title
We can make home everywhere, but the home except you have in homeland is not the “real” home.
So “something” like home means home that are not in that person’s hometown.
The real home has special meanings and memories to the person that lived there.

The message
In order to survive, we must learn language. In order to communicate, we must learn language. What we do to live needs a language.

The problem and solution
The problem is that refugees are having hard time spending a daily life because of the language.
If they overcome the barrier of the language, the refugees could spend more comfortable time.
In order to solve this problem, duolingual should teach those refugees languages.

Something Like Home

Summary
It is a story about four people who lived in Syria but got forced to escape from their hometown. All of them struggles with the language they speak in the new place they live now, and strongly feels that language is a tool not to be isolated, learn habits and natures. Language was the most difficult barrier for them to overcome.

Meaning of the title
All the people who got interviewed escaped from their own nationality, hometown. They are trying their best to live in the new place as if it were their hometown by getting over the language barriers.

Theme
War destroys everything. The people who escaped from the war have to suffer from the inconvenience of not being able to communicate with the new community. Language is the best tool to get real relationships, friends. People who are suffering from those problems doesn’t want to learn a new language, they need to, they have to learn it in order to live their life.

Problem and solution
As watching the film, I thought even though they are forced to learn a new language for their life, there are not enough teachers or whoever teaches new language to them. For solving this problem I think, we should use the Internet. It is hard to connect people by mouth, but we could do it easily by texting. Maybe an simple app could be a one solution for it.

Spanish...

Good morning! The final exam week is coming 😇 My concern is exams in Spanish classes. I’m always confused the verb conjugation because there are over ten patterns. Anybody who is good at Spanish here??? Help meeeeeee!

I think I'm gonna melt this summer

Why is it so hot these days?!?!?!
Is it because of the global warming?!?!
I don’t care but please to the earth make the temperature lower, or I’ll die this summer.
I love summer but I hate summer because of this temperature!!!!!!!!!

Something Like  Home

Summary
This is the documentary type of film about refugee who ran away from Syria. They talks about how large a impact languages have in front of the camera.

The meaning of the title
The place refugees live in is not the place in which they were born. In the way, the place/country where they live is not home to them. However, they make friends and find a job there, which allow them to spend a peaceful time there. Then, the place they live in will become like their home to refugees. The title “Something Like Home” comes from the scenario.

What is the message?
Without languages people can not build their relationship. Learning the language helps people to enrich their lives in the multiple way, for work and communication.

The problem and the solution

The difference between two languages sometimes become a barrier, but at the same time the most powerful tool to break the barrier is a language.

Something like home

Summary

A cameraman travels to countries where he finds refugees and listen to their stories, which is mainly about how was their life at their country and how they are dealing with the language barrier after moving to a safer country.

The meaning of the title

I think the title tell us that no where can be more home than the place were grown up and lived with our family, but by learning the language of a country and becoming able to communicate can make a country like your home.

Message

Language is tool that connect us with everyone in this world. It is a wonderful way of education for those who are trying to continue their life in a new place by working and studying hard. Language is a motivation for them.

Problem and solution

As the people interviewed said, their birth circumstances will always govern their lives. There are many countries that don't accept many of those people's passport and nationality, so they don't have much choice where to emigrate. More developed countries should accept more of those people having difficulties in their home country. They will do no harm. They are just looking for a better and safe place to live with their family.

Miraculous Ladybug

Do you know the Miraculous Ladybug? It is a French-based animation that a teenage girl who has a secret identity to save Paris from evil.

On twitter the Miraculous Ladybug has been a fan art since 2016.  I didn't have time to watch the animation because it was not broadcast in Japan.

At last, I had the chance to watch the show and I was stoked. I loved it. It reminded me of the Power Puff Girls there is humor and kick-ass moves and some romance that excite the audience.  I highly recommend this animation if you liked the Power Puff Girls.  It is on Disney Channel.

Something like home

Summary
The video is mainly about people who ran away from their hometown because of the war. Multiple people were interviewed and talked about their past and their memories.

The meaning of the title
The title, Something like home is that even the place you live is not your true home they can be as a home by learning their language.

Whats the message
The message is that language is the most important thing than any other.
If you learn the language that will able to communicate and make the new place as home even it is not.

Whats the problem for the solution
Refugees are having a hard time running away from war, by that, they are forced to live in a country that speaks a different language. By learning the language that will help the refugees to have a new life and live in peace.

No sleep tonight...!?

I can't sleep because of my book report😊

I hope I can sleep before the soccer game starts!

something like home

Summary
This video was about some refugees leaving their home country because of war. They can’t even go back to their country because it is too dangerous. Each of them had some difficulties, such as losing the member of their family or friends, but the language barrier was the most difficult problems they encountered.

The meaning of the title
I think this title represent that we can’t replace our home country with somewhere else. Each person has some kind of unforgettable memories, and their home country is where they can feel comfortable. Once they settled in a new environment, we think that they would feel much safe, but for them, they feel that they can’t accept the new place as “home”. I think the words “something like” represent their true emotions.

Message
Language is an important tool for us to not only have daily conversations, but for survival. As the refugees said that language barrier was their hardest problem, we can understand how language is necessary for us to integrate and cooperate trough living in this society.

The problem and solution
As we can see from this film, language barrier is the problem when we accept foreigners. Especially when it comes to refugees, their home country is mostly not so developed, that they don’t have an opportunity to learn the language. Since language is a vital tool for survival, we should support them when they start to live a new life. Organization or the government should have a supporting center where those who have difficulty in the language can get help.

Something Like Home

Summary
Four Syrian refugees tells us about their story, moving away from their  home to escape from war. All of them mentioned that language is one of the biggest deal when moving to somewhere else.

Meaning of the title
Although they settled in places away from war, it is still not as nice as living in their home countries in safety. Since it is safe in the new place it is something like their "home", but it is not completely.

Message
All of the four refugees who were interviewed in the video mentioned that language is a significant matter when you move to a new place because without it, you would never be able to express your feelings and it would be extremely difficult to get a job. Thus, education of language is very important and it should be expanded.

Problem and solution
Although the people interviewed had chances to learn new languages, not everyone is getting those opportunities in such areas. Therefore, access to education must be expanded. Since it is almost impossible to have enough teachers for all refugees to learn a new language, it is effective to use systems like duolingo.

Something Like Home

The meaning of the title
The fact that their house is there is not enough to call that place "home". At first they don't speak the language, they don't have friends, and even if they learn language and make friends, it doesn't instantly become their home. They know they don't belong there deep in their heart.

The message
Language seems like a simple and easy thing to overcome when it comes to starting a new life in a new place. However it is a very fundamental tool to connect with people that we should take it seriously.

The problem and the solution
It would be almost impossible for people living in budget to spend much money on education. Therefore, they need some kind of support in getting enough education to survive.

Summary
It is a series of interviews of refugees from Syria. They had to escape from their country because of the terrible war and had to start a new life in a new country. They have a different backgrounds and stories to tell. One thing they have in common is what they think about language.

Something like home

The message of the title
The title “Something like home implies that the refugees dont consider their current homes satisfying enough. They must be trying to fit in the circumstances, but they cannot fully accept it.
The message
Language barriers are the difficulty they need to overcome.
The problem and the solution
The problem they encounter is language barriers which make them hardly communicate with people around them. To solve this serious problem, they have to learn how to use the language that is spoken in which they start living.
Summary

They say they love studying. I find that we, living in Japan and the refugees in the video have a quite different viewpoint on language besides their mother languages. We learn second foreign language for maybe our job opportunity or curiosity, however they do in order to stay alive. Non-mother-language acquisition plays a significant role in surviving in the new places.

Something Like Home

The meaning of the title
Their original hometown being destroyed, they lost their real home. However, they can feel like at home even in the destination of refugees by learning the language of the country. That is something like home.

The issue
Syrian refugees had no choice but get away from their hometown to protect their own and family's lives because oof the outbreak of the civil war. Those who lead an uncertain life do not have the opportunity to receive an enough education.

The solution
We should make it possible for everyone around the world to receive good education so that they  can build deep relationships with native people by learning their language. For example, Duolingo, an app which is available to anyone who have a cell phone enabled people to learn languages for free and easily.

The message
Education is really important as it can save someone's life. With language, we can open up our future possibilities. Our native language is important but it would be better if we could communicate with people who have various backgrounds.

Cockroach

There was a cockroach in my room. I think it is because I left the door open, and it came into my room. Because I had the pesticide, I managed to kill it. One thing I want to tell you guys is this; Do not ever forget to close the door.

"Something like Home"

Summary
This short film is about Syrian refugees who have difficulties in education and language.
The meaning of the title
Where they live now is not actually their home, something like home so the title is "something like home".
The message/theme
There are people who have difficulties in living, not being able to go home.
The important issue

Something like Home

Summary
This video is about interviews of refugees from Syria. They all had to move from their country because of the Syrian war to their new country. Every person interviewed had different difficulties, but language barrier was a thing everyone faced.

The meaning of the title
I think the title of this video,"Something like home" means the challenge they face in the new country similar but not completely same to their hometown. Since there are few countries that accept refugees , refugees have a hard time living in "something like home".

What's the message?
Language barriers are one of the biggest struggles people face when living in a new country. People need to learn the language to survive in the new country, but support and help is needed when learning  a new language.

What's the problem and solving solution?
All the refugees interviewed face language difficulties and needs to learn their country's language in order to survive.

Summary
Four refugees from Syria were interviewed by the people from Duolingo, a company which encourages people to learn new languages. Each of them had different stories about leaving their country behind and settle in another country.

The meaning of the title
Four of them fled from Syria to different countries. The reason why the title is “something like” home is because they all feel like their second home country as home, but not exactly.

The message from the video
The four of them all shared the same difficulty when they fled to another countries; a language barrier. The most important thing when you live outside of your own country is a language to communicate with people living there.

Problems and Solutions
It would be hard for people such as refugees to spend money on education and to find the opportunities to learn new languages, so free and accessible environment in doing so would be a good solution.

What’s the problem and solving solution?
All of the interviewed refugees face an issue regarding language since they are unable to speak the language of the country they are escaping into.

What is the meaning of the title?
I believe that the meaning of the title “Something Like Home” explains the story of their challenge of fleeing their hometown into somewhere “similar” yet completely different. Since people from Syria do not have a large variety of places to flee into, they are forced to move to a similar area in that sense. However, this somewhat “similar” area contain a different language and culture. A place that feels so close yet so far from home.

What’s the message?
Language barriers are always the biggest wall they need to break and they explain that this is because anybody is able to survive just by having the weapon of language. Language is education and education is a weapon.

Summary?

Four Syrian refugees had to flee out of their house and country to keep themselves safe since there are wars and battle going on that can lead to serious damage. Most of the people cannot go back to their birth place since it takes an extended period of time for conflicts to resolve. They share their stories of their experience and their struggle to acquire a new language at a new country with a new life.

The meaning of the title:
For the four people being interviewed, their home(Syria) is no longer an option to live because of the war. They have to put up with a place like home(Syria) but not the actual home. The title expresses the feeling of them missing their home country and what they faced through the years.

My first cheerleading competition!!

As you all know, I was absent from the Friday listening class. I was participating in the Kanto cheerleading competition held in Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.
I was in the B team. I’m almost a beginner in cheerleading. We practiced a lot like, 16 hours a week. It was very challenging.

As a result, we placed 5th in compulsory and 17th in free. As total, we placed 11th our of 47 teams.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t go to the Japan finals because we didn’t have enough points. We needed 3 more point to go to finals which makes it very sad and upsetting at the same time.

I’ll practice harder and go to the finals in the winter.

Sorry for being absent on Friday!!

weekend? not really

I worked a total of about 20 hours this weekend and I am so exhausted but I can't stop doing this cause I feel accomplished at the same time. So glad I didn't procrastinate on my book report and final draft... I guess I am doing fine on balancing work and study for now

just a moment in Karuizawa

Today I went to Karuizawa to see my friend perform in a skating competition.
It was her first competition, but she did pretty well. She looked really cute in her brand new pink costume!

The only bad part of the trip was that I didn’t get to stay there for a night.
Because of all the assignments I have to do, I couldn’t make yesterday a small vacation.
It was a nice five-hour-trip 😂
