something like home

Summary
This video was about some refugees leaving their home country because of war. They can’t even go back to their country because it is too dangerous. Each of them had some difficulties, such as losing the member of their family or friends, but the language barrier was the most difficult problems they encountered.

The meaning of the title
I think this title represent that we can’t replace our home country with somewhere else. Each person has some kind of unforgettable memories, and their home country is where they can feel comfortable. Once they settled in a new environment, we think that they would feel much safe, but for them, they feel that they can’t accept the new place as “home”. I think the words “something like” represent their true emotions.

Message
Language is an important tool for us to not only have daily conversations, but for survival. As the refugees said that language barrier was their hardest problem, we can understand how language is necessary for us to integrate and cooperate trough living in this society.

The problem and solution
As we can see from this film, language barrier is the problem when we accept foreigners. Especially when it comes to refugees, their home country is mostly not so developed, that they don’t have an opportunity to learn the language. Since language is a vital tool for survival, we should support them when they start to live a new life. Organization or the government should have a supporting center where those who have difficulty in the language can get help.
