Mermaid

At the beginning of the story, the boy looked sad, but the mermaid (his imagination) made him happy.

By the way, we probably watch this movie from the boy’s viewpoint, and feel angry with the police.
But if this tragedy happens in reality, what will we feel? I think that we surely accuse him as an eccentric man from the police’s viewpoint. Though we say “Imagination is important”, we live by rules and exclude people who don’t adapt the society.

So, I think the message of this movie is “Imagination is essential for us because it makes us happy. Do you really cherish it like the boy? Or say “It disturbs the order” and accuse him like the police?”
