I like psychology a lot, and read some books or articles on my own when I have free time. I read this article the other day and it was quite interesting so I'd like to share it on the blog.
When pulling a rope with several people (for example tsunahiki), take a single person's strength to be 100%. But when 2 people pull the rope together it reduces to 93%, and when it becomes 3 people it becomes 85%, and when it increases to 8 people the strength drops down to 49%.
This is because of an unconscious effect that humans have, and it is the feeling of someone is there to pull, or some one is there to help. That is why as people increase in pulling the rope, their individual strengths reduce drastically.
