The main characters in this film was a boy and a mermaid. The boy was very imaginitive and imagined a fish turning into a mermaid.
The story starts of on a beach where a boy saves a fish and puts it back in the ocean. The fish turns into a beautiful mermaid and the boy falls in love with her. However in the country the boy lived in, people were not allowed to imagine and if they did, they were punished. Although he believed in the mermaid and never forget about her , the boy gets put into prison and gets punished.
Eventually the boy gets out of prison. At the end of the story the boy goes back to the ocean to show the mermaid and everyone actually gets really surprised to see the mermaid and finds out that the boys imagination was true.
The theme of this story is to keep believing what you think no matter what others might say.
