TELL lecture

•over 60% of the callers to the TELL lifeline are Japanese even though TELL is an english speaking lifeline.

•survey done in 2013 by the Japanese government said that about 69 % of young people under the age of 24 were reporting that they were bullied and harassed.

•bullying is all around. it can be anyone.

•bullying can take many different forms, physical, verbal, emotional, social, direct, indirect, involves unwanted aggressive behavior toward an individual that involves power and balance.

•the internet is potentially forever.

•depression and anxiety can affect people our age.

•don't be a bystander, be an upstander..
 someone who has the guts to speak out.

•empathy, engaging with others

•empathy helps to motivate bystanders to become up standers.

•show empathy by becoming better listeners.
listen actively. don’t prepare your respond.
invest your time.

In this lecture, the princess talked a little about cyber stalking and it reminded me of my friend who actually experienced cyber stalking which eventually led to real life stalking. She was posting her location on snapchat and Instagram story. We really have to be careful what we post, considering the fact about digital foot print and disclosure of personal information.
