Binta and the great idea
Setting... This short film was made in 2004. The stage is a small village in Senegal.
Point of View... First Person
Conflict... Binta's cousin, Soda vs. Soda's father
Soda's father sticks to the old way of thinking and insists that women should stay at home and do house works, no matter how hard Soda and her mother asks.
Developed countries vs. a Small village
Binta's father struggles to find a nice way to keep the advantages of a small village.
Climax... Binta's school stages a play about a life of a girl who is eager to study at school. The story was exactly the same to Soda's. At the last part of the play, Soda stands up and insists that she wants to go to school to her farther in front of everyone. Her farther couldn't refuse because everyone criticized him. At last, Soda was able to study.
Symbol... birds, a watch
