Mermaid- Osamu Tezuka

This story takes place on a land where you are not allowed to use imaginations. The characters in this story are a boy and a mermaid who used to be a fish. The story begins with a boy sitting by the ocean.   Eventually, the fish that he found turns into a mermaid and he falls in love with her. However, that was only his imagination and the country arrests him for that. In jail, he gets punished for that and is not allowed to imagine anything. But eventually he successfully escapes and bring the fish to the ocean with him. Everyone gets surprised because his imagination turned out to be true. The climax of this story is that part where he escapes from prison and wins back the ability of imagination. I think he wanted to tell us that even when everyone else disagrees with your opinion, you have to keep believing and eventually that something you believed in will come true.
