French number

Our french test is at next week and we have to memorize the French number from 1 to 100.
BUT!! 71 in French is 60 plus 11 and 91 is 4 multiply 20 plus 11!!
How could it be like that! Why can't you guys just make it simple to one number!
It is killing me!!

I heard that other countries' counting system were also like the French's long time ago, and France is one of the country that hasn't discarded the system yet.
I took French in high school so I know how it feels like...although I forgot everything that I learned😑
