About the film we watched in class

Settings
A small village somewhere in Africa.

Point of view
First person mixed with some omniscient factors.

Conflict
Binta's cousin Soda wants to go to school but her father doesn't let her because he thinks women should stay home and do chores.

Climax
Binta and their friends do a play of Soda's actual situation.  In the play, Soda ends being granted her wish of going to school.  After play ends Soda herself begs to her father that he would let her go to school.  Everyone who came to see the play demanded to let Soda go to school.  Finally, Soda's father gives up and allows Soda to go to school.

Irony
Binta's father's big idea gets accepted by the governor because it was such an great idea.

Theme
I think there are two themes in this clip.
1, Anyone can be happy if they just use their imagination.
2, Everyone has the right to learn as they wish.

Symbol
The watch was a symbol of European technology.
The birds were a.symbol of intelligence.
