mermaid

setting: around 1950s to 1960s in Japan

conflict: boy vs. himself, boy vs. government

climax: the boy got sick of being controlled and forgot the mermaid, then he escaped.

symbol: The sea symbolizes the freedom. The mermaid symbolizes imagination or illusion.

irony: in the end, the boy turned into the mermaid.

theme: imagination should be allowed to anybody.
