Stanley Pickle
lives in a house with his mechanized parents which he made. He closed himself
from the reality, and live in an environment where he made his happiness last
forever. One day, he sees a girl crying because her friend bird died. He liked
her, and wanted to make her happy, so he took the bird home and mechanized it
just like his parents. When he let the girl see the mechanized bird, the girl
screamed and run away. He gradually begun to alter his way of thinking, and buried
his parents, and left his home.
Setting : In the countryside, surrounded by
forests. 1990s
Conflict : Stanley vs himself
Climax : When Stanley showed the mechanized
bird to the girl which made her frightened.Symbol : Forest→represent the happiness of life, reality of the nature
Window/Door→the border of reality and the environment he made up
(maybe something like an utopia)
Clockwork→an example of technology advance, uncompleted
Irony : What Stanley did to make the girl happy unfortunately frightened the girl
Theme : Even though the technology advances, mechanics can’t replace the death. Life isn’t everlasting, so we must accept the death, and move forward.
