This is America

Summary
     Through this music video, Gambino wants to express the history and the current situation of gun use and black people in the United States. He shows how much control guns have over humans and that black people used to be treated as slaves.

Setting: In a huge white building, the current America
Conflict: American people vs. an American society which allows people to use guns
               Black people vs. white people
Climax: Gambino shot a person from his/her back.
              Gambino shot a choir group.
              Gambino ran away from a group of people.
Symbols: Shooting at a choir group represents the 2015 Charleston shooting.
                Guns represent threat and a sense of security.
Irony: Gambino’s skin color is black, but a part of his song’s lyrics represents the opinions of white people.
Theme: In America, people are allowed to use guns to protect themselves. However, they can end up being as weapons to kill other precious lives. Also, we need to remember that there had been violence towards black people over the history of America.
