I am in the library right now, and cannot focus on reading anymore...I am reading the book for my Japanese book report....which was supposed to be done last week...I have changed my book twice because the two books I chose beforehand were too complicated. So I am still reading that one, I have to read another Japanese book for this weeks essay, and I have not even started it yet, although I already have the book picked out. There is also work to do for the book report due Tuesday...maybe I should come to school tomorrow and spend my day in the library...?
Anyways, I need a snack. Wont make it till I get home haha
Hope you all have a calm, carefree, deadline carefree weekend.
And I really want to spend more time with you all outside class......the first term is almost over....wish we all could get together and go eat sometime...?
And sorry for making you read my tired post...I just wanted to complain to somebody, and I am alone in the library, so...haha. So, thanks guys for letting me type this inconsequential post!

Friday morning
Today, I woke up a bit late than I usually do every Friday, but I managed to get on the bus on time. However, when I had to transfer to the train, since it was raining this morning, there were many people waiting in the platform. I tried getting in but it was already filled with people so I had to wait for another train. I understand that. The problem is that the train was delayed. I couldn't hear the reason for the delay very well but probably because of the rain. All I was thinking about was getting to class as fast as possible, so when I didn't see any train coming for five minutes, I felt very panicked. But I'm happy that I made it to class. It was a tough morning for me.
Anyways, hope you all have a great weekend!
global culture class
What we do in this class is just watching movies. It's really enjoyable and easy but the final homework is pretty big...5 papers....
italics
I forgot to put the source in italics for my listening report this morning when I printed it, and I had to reprint the first page. So glad I made it on time
media
The video I just found for today's listening report said that we should know more about the things we really should know (politics?), and less about entertainment.
Sure, we need to know a lot about politics and stuff since it relates to the problem of nations. But hey! I bet the author who even made this video loves something entertaining. And besides, I think watching entertainment can actually sometimes lead to watching news.

Summary
It takes place in Los Anglos where everything is made of logos of companies. Ronald MacDonald, a terrorist gets chased by Michelin Man that is a police. Ronald kills so many people in the city. Then an earthquake comes and destroys everything. A girl and a boy were the only people who was able to fled away from the natural disaster. At the end, they were on peaceful island with no logos.
Message
This short film is a simple satire which shows that our land is over-loaded with so many things such as brands, buildings, cars, fights, troubles, guns, motorbikes, roads, garbage, human beings, and phones. We have created too much stuff in the industrial world that it has become over-loaded and complicated and often times destroying the nature. On the other hand, the mother nature is simple. The film clearly explains that producing too much products and emitting pollution on Earth is definitely a problem. The power of nature is so strong that one big earthquake can destroy what humans made up with time and effort.

We read this short story in reading class this morning, it is said to be a horror story but I couldn't find anything horrifying throughout the story. I haven't read any Gene Wolfe's work before, wonder how others are like.
How E-books are right now
While I was reading through some of the old posts, I realized that some posts about E-books were posted in 2010. Sooo I thought it will be interesting to post a comment on how E-books are right now, seven years later...
2010 was around the time when smart phones began to spread. Since then, many things can be done on the phone. Around that time we started to order things online, communicate with people by using e-mail, and I think both Facebook and Twitter started to become popular. Useful services were made. And one of the other new services were reading things on the internet. Back then, it was said that now anything can be done on the phone and that people will be reading using the phone too. However, seven years later today, I think a lot of people prefer reading paper books than the ones on the internet. Yet, we are likely to use the internet only sometimes, for example when we can't find a copy of the book in the store. And I think this will go on in the future.

The video was basically about Ronald McDonald chased by two Michelin men in Los Angeles, in the video, the whole city was made up with various kind of famous logos and mascots. When Michelin were trying to catch McDonald, suddenly the earthquake occurs and the ground cracks into half and tsunami-ish black water flows over the city, Eiso lady and Big Boy only survives it.
The video was overall pretty interesting, it used a lot of familiar company's logos that are also famous in Japan, including YAMAHA, Sony, etc, I'm really into brands and corporate identity and it was great to see all my favorite companies included somehow. I think it is about the world which over-marketed with only logos and mascots, and rampage of fast food company, for example McDonald will destroy the market of whole other companies.

check our old posts! wow!
I tried to go to sleep, but I couldn't so I was reading some of blog entries that were posted back in May and April.
Look at our old posts! They look so shy😂
I can't believe it's been about two months since we started college!
I was reading some posts from 2009 and around 2010, and I think I know this one person... I don't know, but the name was similar...
Guess what I was doing back in 2009? I still lived in America!
It's been about 7 years since I came back to Japan!

First semester is almost over.
Today in our IE class we finished all our media discussion and at that point I literary felt how time flies so fast. It's only about three more weeks to go until summer.
I feel kind of sad because I won't be able to take class with you all in the second semester since we are separating to the next class IE Seminar.
I hope I can have more conversation with all of you until the class finishes!!!!!!!

The story was mainly about Ronald McDonald (criminal) being chased by two Michelin men (police). Ronald succeeds in getting away from the two cops, however, a big earthquake occurs and he dies. The earthquake splits the continent in two and a huge tsunami comes as well. The only survivors were the Esso lady and Big Boy.
I thought this film was very interesting because it was using familiar logos which made me feel like I was looking at the world we actually live in but from a wider perspective. I'm guessing this film wanted to tell us that we live in a world full of logos and that we are controlled by them and their image. Logos might seem cute and fun, however, it has dangerous aspects like how it can be used for propaganda. We are used to living in a world surrounded by logos that we don't realize how we are controlled by them and I think the film wanted us to think about this problem. At the end, almost all the logos(shops and houses) disappear because of the natural disaster but the two survivors seem happy and relaxed. I think this is saying that our world will be more peaceful without any logos.

The story is about a terrorism that happened in Los Angels. The culprit is not a normal human but a popular brand character we've all known from childhood- McDonald's "Donald". I didn't know some of the logos, but it was still interesting video to watch. I think the creator of the video was trying to know how we would react-and especially how the owners of the companies in the video would react if all these brands went crazy. We know some of the logos since childhood, and I don't think it's bad at all to twist some of the images of these brands. It's a great way to entertain, and it may sound weird but also a way to spread the word of the company.
University School Life
It's almost 3 in the morning and I'm still up as always, doing my assignment.
Somebody said that the four years in university are the life's longest summer vacation, but I can never agree with that. I have so many things to do every day and it is nothing like a vacation.

Summary
This is a story about two policemen (Michelin Man) chasing an armed criminal (Ronald McDonald) in Los Angeles, the city made up of many familiar logos and mascots. McDonald takes a child (Big Boy) as a hostage while running away. During a gun battle with McDonald and the policemen, an earthquake suddenly occurs and the ground cracks open. At the end, only Esso girl and Big Boy succeed in escaping from the tsunami.
Message
I think this video is trying to show that we are surrounded by so many kinds of logos and brands in this world, and our images are controlled by them. Therefore, it might be tellig us that if there were no brands in this world (just like what happned at the end of the film), it would be more peaceful, without any need to compete. Also, this video showed that one huge disaster or shock to the society can lead to many brands and companies collapsing at once.

The video is about crime in Los Angeles. A bunch of random character's lives all crash when a gunman Ronald McDonald is on the loose. The police are Michelin men and the street of LA becomes the playground of a car chase. Though it seemed like Ronald escaped from the police, an earthquake comes and he dies all too soon. In the mean time, BigBoy, who was taken as a hostage by Ronald was saved by Esso lady and survived the quake.
Some scenes were a little violent, but I liked the point that the characters were different from my personal image. It made me think how much media advertising and corporate images have become embedded in our culture. I felt kind of scary thinking that the media can control the things we know and are familiar with.
I was also surprised to know that there were about 2500 logos in this 15 minute video.

Summary
Ronald McDonald was being chased by Michelin policemen. Ronald McDonald was being chased because he killed some people. When policemen were trying to catch Ronald, suddenly earthquake occurred and the land was being cracked into many pieces. Most of the land were being swallowed by the sea. The film closes by zooming out to reveal that the entire universe is made up of even more logos.
Theme
I consider the theme of this movie has two.
One is to show the current environmental situation. Circumstance in which this world is turning into industrial world. People are only thinking about their profit. Such as humans are cutting trees to make papers and houses, killing many natural animals and species for an investigation, turning clean water into dirty water for manufacturing things. Our selfishness is what makes this world to collapse.
Second is to express how over-marketed land we are in. we can't really notice everyday, but when you intentionally think about the amount of commercial brand we have in this world. Watching television, there are always commercials. When walking down the street, you will notice many signs up on the board. I can't clearly noticed how messed up this world is with all the commercials. From this movie I finally realized the nosiness of this world where there are no time for a rest.

Varmints
The story follows a creature who finds himself in the midst of monstrous city as he lived peacefully in the nature. Having to change his lifestyle to suit a smoggy, dirty city filled with sickness and sadness, he falls in love with another of his kind who has also found herself sucked into this new landscape. Dealing with problems of ecology and germination, the story proves the great power of nature.
The theme of this short film is the loss of silence, nature, and a space to relax peacefully because of the sudden urbanization. It makes us reconsider about both the current earth and the future earth. I couldn't get what the last jellyfish-looking thing was representing, but it seemed like an alert for human before it's too late.

The video is about the world where almost everything is made of logos and characters of different brands. It starts with two Michelin cops chasing Ronald McDonald. The chase ends when an earthquakes hits the city and destroys everything.
I think this video is to show how our life is surrounded by so many different companies, and to show the power of brands. We can easily get impressions from just looking at the logos. I think they made Ronald McDonald as an antagonist to imply fast foods are bad for our bodies and McDonald is the biggest fast food company.

Summary
Ronald McDonald, the criminal on the loose, was traced by Michelin policemen. McDonald killed some of the character on his way and suddenly an earthquake happened. The continent split apart and there followed a long shot showing the view of the galaxy infiltrated by logos.
Theme
This short film is full of sarcasm. Michelin men are fat and round shaped, they had coke and fried chicken for lunch which can be often seen in dramas for policemen. The donkey and elephant, which represents the Democratic Party and the Republic Party are locked in the zoo. More over, Ronald McDonald stumbled over the logo of Weight-Loser when the earthquake happened.I also did not realized how our daily life is infiltrated by logos. It does not seem that messed up in real life, but when hundreds of logos are put together into one short film, the chaotic and noisy image of the roads and stores has stayed in my mind since the first time I watched it.

The film was a story about two Michelin men cops chasing the Ronald McDonald criminal in a city made up of logos and mascot characters. The message of the film was to show how our everyday lives are full of advertisements and branding. I thought that they made Ronald McDonald the bad guy was because he simply looks evil and kind of scary. (I think many people will agree with me😂) I think the message was that there are advertisements and brandings everywhere in our lives. It was very interesting to get used to the logos and started to not notice the logos anymore.

Summary
The film used the well-known brand logos we now see every day. It starts with two Michelin men, who are the cops, talking in the car. One of the Michelin men got out of the car to buy fast food and by the time he came back, he finds Ronald McDonald, who is the villain and they chase him. There was violence and shooting during their chase. In the end, the city is destroyed by an earthquake and ESSO girl and big boy were the only ones left to survive.
Theme
I thought this film had the idea of consumerism, because it has taken a big part in our lives and we cannot avoid it. Also, during the time the film was made, the companies have worked hard to come up with new and best ideas for their promotion, in order to catch people's attention and because of that pressure to raise the company even higher, their plan didn't work out well and made things fall apart.
Even though the language used in this film was quite dirty, I really enjoyed watching this film that I even shared it and recommended watching to my sister. She told me that she enjoyed it too.

Theme: I think the video presents us the world we live in today where companies are shaping our society. At the last part of the clip an earthquake occur leaving 2 people in a floating island, resting while eating an apple. My thoughts about what the message that the writer wants to send is that having a simplier society is easier and people can live more peacefully.

Summary: Mcdonald steals a car of another company and is chased by police. Unfortunately he succeeds in getting away with it. Then, an earthquake occurs collapsing company by company, till all companies drowned making the whole world hollow.
Theme: This video was made in 2009, so I think one of the things this video represents is the state of Lehman Shock which happened in 2008. (That is the earthquake). The state before the earthquake puzzles me, but I think that it meant that there were companies that tried to steal other companies benefits for their own sake which caused chaos...?
Although I didn't like the language used in this video and felt a little sorry for Mcdonalds, I liked the way they portrayed the chaotic situation then and give the message to be careful and not be selfish by holding back the truth that the company's situation is getting worse and they are at the verge of collapsing, causing a big chain reaction to other company's...like the major company Lehmon has done.

Michelin'a character, which is a protagonist, is chasing McDonald, an antagonist of the video. They are having a car chase at a city filled with logos from many companies such as 76, UHAUL, Avis, and much more. McDonald kidnaps Big Boy at the restaurant which he escapes and heads to where ESSO is. Meanwhile, Michelin finds McDonald and tries to kill him but Michelin loses, sadly. McDonald tires to chase after ESSO and Bigboy but he actually ends up getting run over by them. The city starts to collapse and turn chaotic, and ESSO and the bigboy becomes the only two to survive.
Theme
I thought two themes were hidden in the video. The first theme is that, proper and aesthetic gourmet are important and necessary rather than fast foods which are unhealthy. Another theme is that, we are surrounded by companies and logos, and if some disasters happen to those companies, our lives could end as well.
I personally love this video that I have been watching it almost everyday. It was shocking when M&M and Skippy were killed.

To me I think "Genpatsukun" was easy to understand, especially for kids. When I was a kid many people around me used those inappropriate words all the time. So this kind of way actually keeps big attentions for kids. Mostly for the topic that's very complicated and too boring. However, there are minus point within this video. the video somehow allows kids to laugh since it uses a lot of inappropriate words but kids might not take nuclear problem very seriously.
In the other video of "Nuclearboy" it was so hard to understand. The thing is using these inappropriate words to something is very usual in Japan but in America I consider these words not really the way to make people in those country laugh. They will just feel shocked using inappropriate words. I lived in america when I was in elementary school and looking back at that time none of my girlfriend or boyfriend used words that aren't improper words at school.
To conclude, I consider the culture's difference makes the video very hard to understand. Japanese people may be able to understand, in contrast American will just feel uncomfortable seeing lacking words.

LaLaport
Today, I went to LaLaport Tokyo bay's bargain sale! The number of people at there was literally the same as the number of people at concert at Tokyo Dome! Maybe Kyocera dome? Or Fukuoka... anyways, it was just too crowded! But it was exciting because I was able to observe what kind of people bought clothes from where. I wasn't able to buy much because though it is on sale, the clothes were still expensive...
School festival

Me and my mom have been planning things to do in the Philippines these past few days and I'm really excited to go home😭💕 I can't wait to see my whole family and childhood friends.
I have a feeling that this summer is going to be AWESOME! I made plans with my friends here and I'm excited for those as well, I dont know but I feel like It's been a while since I felt excited about something! Going to use this as a motivation to get me going this coming month with all the exams and stuff👏
Peach cake
Recently, there was a menu renewing day at the cafe that I work part-time. One of the cakes that came as a summer menu was peach cake (tiramisu?). The company members let us taste them, and it was so delicious!!! I don't really like too cheesy food so I usually don't even try eating tiramisu, but this one recommended by my co-workers was different😋 I came to feel that, maybe I will try rare cheese cakes sometime...

Hot Cheetos
I miss hot Cheetos a lot and feel like I would literally munch on them once I return to United States. Yes, it's a junk food but who cares. Junk food is sometimes good for you!!!
About Starbucks new green tea latte
Did you guys drink the new green tea latte with a whole brownie on the top???
I bought this today and it was one of the most delicious drink among others.
The best part about this drink is the fact that it has a whole brownie in it.
You crumple the brownie and mixing it with the green tea clearly adds nice accent to it !!!!!!!!!
It's a little expensive but please try it

TELL I'm sorry I'm super late!!
The presenter told us about the existence of TELL where all of the people who have concerns could go and just talk to someone. She also taught us that there are many types of bullying and cyber bullying. Recent years, because it is easier for people to say bad things about someone on SNS than to say it in front of that person, there are more and more people who use social networks inappropriately which leads to cyber bullying. I wish these movements like TELL would spread and help those who suffer from cyber bullying. The presenter gave us time to discuss with the people who were sitting around and the presenter was energetic so it was fun to listen.
Friday
Today, for my lunch, I ate Hiyashi Chuka for the first time this summer.
It was very delicious, but there was one thing I didn't like about and that was it had Wakame in it. I don't hate Wakame, but it just doesn't go with Hiyashi Chuka.
I like the classic Hiyashi Chuka with cucumber, egg, ham, moyashi, and red ginger.

I think this video was indicating the future earth and the producer was sounding the alarm of people destroying nature. In this video, it starts with the scene of a place full of nature and all of the creatures lived happily and freely. However characters which were symbolizing human destroyed the nature and started to build skyscrapers. All of the characters started to suffer from the dirty air but the main character never forgot to take care of the branch he took. At last the world seemed like hell but the branch the main character was taking care of triggered the nature to help the world. I think this indicated that if human keep on trying to confront the issues of pollution, someday the nature will come back.As it is indicated in this video, human can not live without nature and so we have to start taking good care of them and protect them.
genpatsukun&nuclearboy
I thought this video was easy for children and for people who don't understand how nuclear power is produced and how they are dangerous and not dangerous. However, even if this metaphor may attract people's eyes and make it easier for people to understand nuclear, using poop as the metaphor may have offended the victim of the nuclear accident that occurred in Fukushima. Therefore, I think the producer of this video should have thought more deeply about the victim of the nuclear accident and use a different metaphor for the video.
No phone, no frustration!
I threw my smartphone on the bed like, at least 3 times today! I'm using it ALL the time! Whenever I just am not concentrating on anything particular- yep, phone. What about that plan to go out on Saturday? Yep- phone. Then I realize I am on it again, and throw it away....and pick it back up in like within 30 minutes. And throw it away~So! Time to set limitations! Our theme for media discussion and listening reports is about media, I hope you can tell me some stories of your own regarding phone usage....and I will try not to throw my phone on the bed anymore....I have a feeling its going to break soon😂

My friend came to Tokyo today from America, and before Tokyo she had already been to Hongkong, China and another country which I have forgot. She is studying in Cornell university and her summer holiday contains three months! I envy that so much.

egg tart
I found that egg tart store at omotesando station! They were so delicious, I am really going to find a recipe for it and bake it myself.
🌧
My umbrella was broken on the way home and the wifi in my room keeps disconnect, I have to reconnect every thirty seconds. I wonder if it is affected by the heavy rain. I like most rainy days, but the humidity is just too much for me. Through texting this post I reconnected four times. Okay, five times now. Fine, the sixth time.
I hate you
I woke up this morning yelling I hate you... I wonder what dream I was watching. Maybe, it was mentioned towards the tsuyu?

Summary: Starts with a fluffy creature playing in nature, which is then destroyed by other fluffy creatures. The main fluffy creature saves a part of a tree branch and keeps it alive in his room. The branch grows and produces seeds. As the air becomes more polluted, the creatures turn helpless. They are later saved by oxygen bubbles that grew from the branch the main creature took care of.Afterwards, the oxygen bubbles showered the polluted land with seeds, creating new hope for a greener environment.
Theme:The creatures portray humans destroying the natural environment. It gives us a message that even doing something small, like saving a branch goes for something much greater. We should do more for the environment and always think of the consequences if we do nothing.
The pictures made me feel the
dust and pollutedness.I wanted to
clear all the dust and dirt throughout the whole clip.

I think this film was made to let us know how important it is to save the environment, and what effects it has when it is polluted.
The strange creatures were living in a place where there is plenty of nature and everybody was living happily. But, there came the construction of the buildings. It turned the rich, clean nature into a devastating place. At first, the creature tried to make and live, but the plant started to go rotten and the polluted environment started to give damage to the creature. That's when creature like a jellyfish saveed them and put them in a place where there is plenty of nature.
I think this was to tell us that if we keep polluting the Earth, we will have to abandon the Earth and go find a new planet to live in.

Summary
The white creature was living a happy life surrounded by nature. All of a sudden, black creatures started invading his land (home) . They brought tall buildings, and black dust was everywhere. The white creature tried to save the tree but he was only able to save a branch from the tree. He takes very good care of the branch, giving filtered water to it everyday. Few months or years past living in a polluted environment, some creatures started to die. His plant also died and he was dying as well. However, he is saved by the jellyfish kind of thing and he starts living in the new world where only "chosen" ones are able to live (who were cherishing nature), surrounded by nature again.
Evaluation
This video made me cry seeing animals suffocate because of the polluted and industrialized environment. I do think the Industrial Revolution was necessary for us humans to live a enriched life. However, I think it went too far, too fast and it's unbelievable that we are still going on with the same kind of pase even when we now know how important nature is. We know that nature is limited and without nature we cannot live. Then why do we keep on using natural resources like crazy and pollute the environment? There is a possibility that this world might be just like the one in the video and it scared me really bad. There are many little things we can do for the environment like recycle everything we can, keep the beach clean, use eco bags instead of plastic bags and more! Environmental issues are actually close to us and we CAN make changes.

Dinner
I had dinner with the members of Model United Nations member from high school! One of the member is going to a university in America, so it was like a good bye dinner. It was great to see each other again after all these days in college. And I am awake now because I noticed that I haven't been on the blog for a while and that I had homework which had to be done on the blog. Also, I have a French mid-term tomorrow... wish me luck!
Varmints
The story taught us how important it is for us to protect the environment. First there was green everywhere, and this little creatures were having a good time wandering around. But one day the big creatures came and build so many buildings, and made the whole place with almost no green. Though in our world we still have green, but by watching the video it made me think that maybe our world will be like this too soon in the future.
In the end, the big creatures started to suffer living, and it looked like the little creatures who tried to keep green were saved by a jelly-fish-like-flying-in-the-air. I think the big creatures were being punished for hurting the planet they live on, and the little creatures were sent away somewhere else to get a second chance to live with green.
Genpatsukun&Nuclear boy
To me, I think both videos are inappropriate for kids. Using poop may some how make children interested on the topic. Yet, this nuclear problem is not something to make fun of. If the adults want their children to know about the nuclear problem clearly, they should not teach it this way. I can tell that both videos tried to be emotional and educational at certain points, but still both videos does not teach enough danger of nuclear power plants. Also, I didn't like the way they ended the video by saying that everything will be alright even if nuclear power plants are around. Not everyone agrees with having nuclear power plants in the country, so in my opinion that part should have not been said.

Summary
The main character, a white rabbit-looking animal lived happily on the prairie when some industrial revolution happens and the entire place was covered with dark buildings and smoke. This animal takes care of the last tree that has survived and it released seeds into his city. Later, those seeds that was released grew bigger into a jellyfish-like creature and took him in there. It was full of beautiful nature there.
Evaluation
The white rabbit-looking animal lost nature, silence and place to sit peacefully and just to be alone. In my opinion, Marc Craste, the director of this film was trying to show us the true fears of the crisis. At the end, he died and the place the jellyfish-like creature took him was the heaven. The message in this film is for us humans to imagine what are the significant things in our lives and how important the environment is.

The film was make to let us know about the importance of nature. The plants were sacrifised in order to create the civilization and as the beautiful nature started dissappearing, the characters started to suffer. This indicated that we are not able to live without the help of nature. Also I thought that the main guy not forgetting about the nature and the act of trying to protect them saved them. It means that we must be aware of the environmental problem that we are facing and we must not forget to protect and thank nature for protecting us.
While watching varmints, watching the happy part was no problem. However, as the film started to get more dark and the characters seemed to be suffering to breath, I was also suffering to breathe😂

Match with Tohoku Gakuin
On Saurday and Sunday, I went to Sendai to have a fencing match with Tohoku Gakuin. Although our school lost, it was a close game and I enjoyed it a lot! I also made friends with a girl from that school. We have this fencing match with Tohoku Gakuin every year, so I am looking forward to seeing her again next year.
In Sendai, beef tongue (in Japanese, Gyu-tan) is very famous and I ate it with my teammates on Saturday. I was so happy to be alive because it was exremely delicious!!! Also, I was excied to find and see many pictures and posters of Mr. Yuzuru Hanyu (my prince) since he was born in Sendai.
Overall, I had a great weekend but now I am really tired..!

The main character of this video is rabbit like creature living at hill where full of green. One day this whole place will took over by black buildings and dark dusts, suddenly turns into polluted dark city. This rabbit like creature gently kept growing plants which he saved from original place. Later, the seeds of that plant flew away and becomes huge jellyfish like creature and saves rabbit like creature by its tentacles.
Evaluation
In the end of this story, the dark city will be covered by white seeds scattered by jellyfish like creatures. I think this means green environment will comes back again in future, and whole new world will be starting again. I thought the contrast of black and white described dark side and bright side of our society and environment. Our world is already like the dark city in the video, and if we keep living the same way our nature will be destroyed completely. Human should start and change ourselves by planting seeds for better world.

Summary
A white, rabbit-like creature lives in a grassy plain, surrounded by great nature. One day, huge creatures of a different race invade the plain and bring skyscrapers with toxic air. The main character manages to grab a tree branch from his favorite tree before it was covered in ash. He keeps the branch in a pot but it eventually dies from the severe air pollution. The citizens there become sick and so does the main character. At the end, the rabbit-like creature is collected by a jellyfihsh-like creature and lives in a place with beautiful nature.
Evaluation
I think the main character had been dead by the time he went outside and was colledted by the jellyfish. He probably died in his room from the sickness due to the pollution, and rest of the story was his dream or his illusion.
He lost his home, a beautiful nature, a quiet place to rest, and maybe at the end, his hope. I think the film tried to let us be aware of the fear of losing everything because of our selfish actions towards the environment. Also, even though the video did not have any dialouges, it showed the devastaing situation we are facing, poetically yet effectively. The message of this, I think, would be "If we keep on being unkind to the nature, we will lose everything we have right now." In addition to that, it gave us courage and reassured that if we are kind to our environment, we can maintain our good lives.

Summary
The rabbit-like animal lived closer with nature . However, one day the other animal brought tall buildings, and industrialized factories into the peaceful nature land. Nature land was later destroyed and all the trees, grass, flowers, and species dead. He was forced to live in the dark artificial place. Life has changed very much. Before everything turned into ruled environment, he was able to take a tree branch. Tree branch then drops some white particles which turned into some kind of spaceship that saved all the rabbit-liked animal.
Evaluation
This is a story is giving prediction what the world will be like if we don't save the nature. Our world is clearly turning into something that was shown in the video. When I always go to the tall building I can clearly see the full town and I always notice that there are not much trees. Most of them are tall buildings, houses, or factories.
In the American literature, many writer suggests that "Nature" is something that God has given us, and that we cannot waste the precious source. We are now living away from nature. I consider living with nature is our world's goal. If we don't try to live together with nature, every single one of us will die and worst the earth itself may be destroyed.

The story is basically about the environment. One day, a group of black creatures started pushing buildings which cause the air to be polluted and the trees and grasses to die. On the other hand, A white creature was able to keep a living plant(branch) and put it in his room for it to grow. The plant was able to produce seed which at the end save the white creatures.
At the last part of the story, I think that they all died and the white creatures who cared and planted trees where able to enter the jelly fish kind of thing which I think is heaven. The ending of the story in my opinion is the beginning of a new world with the seed being scattered all over the town.

He tries to grow a piece of tree branch that he managed to save. one day, the seeds from the tree branch pops out and fries somewhere. The air in the city is very toxic and killing everyone. When the city starts to collapse, he gets rescued with his species by the seed that turns out to be some kind of shelter. In the end, the white seeds are falling down in the city.

What the video is trying to tell us is that the mankind is destroying too much nature and wild life for its own purpose and when it's too late, civilization will perish, but animals and nature will keep living.

Last week was busy, and I had couple days that I stayed up all night. Saturday was the day to be refreshed by sleeping from midnight to 1 o'clock in the afternoon.
I've got to use my time more efficiently, so I could take more sleep... which I love to do.😌

Summary
The rabbit-like animal had led a close live to the nature until the other animals brought skyscrapers and industrialized infrastructures into his homeland and destroyed the nature. He had to live in that iron city and his lifestyle has changed entirely. He managed to save a tree branch, but eventually he died due to heavy pollution like many other animal residents.
Evaluation
In the end the main character rushed to the roof top and collapsed over bundle of industrial waste. Pollutated air and water tourtured him for a long time and he failed to stand up. In my opinion, he is dead at the moment, the beautiful nature and the girl appeared after the white jellyfish collected him after his death should be his illusion.
The scene that the main character had been trying to write down everything related to the nature from his memory made me thinking about us. Generations before us always had a closer relationship toward nature than this generation, and what will happen hundred years later? If the environment keep deteriorating, will the young generation in the future know about the nature like what we do today, or will they only had to learn about it from books? This short film is very powerful to remind people of our environment.

The main character is a white rabbit looking creature who lives in nature full of green. One day, all of a sudden, the green field turns into concrete and numbers of tall buildings and black bear looking creatures appears. He quickly grabs a branch from a tree and keeps it in a pot. There is a severe air pollution and destruction of nature in the city due to human activities. The air is so polluted that people who live in the city are extremely sick. One night, he sees a big white jellyfish looking thing floating in the air which looks bright, clean, comfortable and hopeful. He gets collected in the jellyfish. The inside of it is peaceful and full of nature unlike the gray city. This may be the representation of heaven.
I think this video is a waring for us. We prioritize economical benefits and convenience that we barely think about the enviornment that's being destroyed. If we continue civilizing, at some point in the future, we're going to have to face the reality which is like the gray city in the video.

busy Saturday and lazy Sunday
I woke up at 4:30am on Saturday to go to morning practice and after that I went to school to pick up a book. Then I had an interview for my part-time job. In the evening, I had dinner with my friends and senpai. It was such a tiring Saturday so I woke up really late this morning. I have to study for some tests coming up this next week.

Friday
Tomorrow is the weekend!!!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow, I'm just going to relax and read book for the book report.
Friday
This morning, I woke up and realized my throat hurt somehow. I heard that tea is good for throat so I will try to drink tea with some honey. I hope I'm not getting a cold. I think some people are sick because of the temperature changing this week.
Have a good weekend.
Have a good weekend.
battery🔋
I forgot to charge my phone last night and my phone only had 37% of battery this morning when I get to the classroom. I was worried but had just find out that I've only used 20% the whole day. I thought I spend lot of time on my phone
Varmints
I thought of one of the Ghibli series movie when I first saw this video.
I do not know if I am right but I have a feeling that the main character of this video was a creature that looked similar to Willie. The Willie-like creatures lived at a place with nature. However, the other Willie-like creatures destroyed the nature and built a metropolis instead. The natures, especially the plants lost their place to live. Since the main character probably wanted to save the nature, he took away one of the stems from the tree and took care of it at home.
Then, a creature (probably the varmints) grew along with the plants. The fully grown varmints saved the Willie-like creatures from the eroding town.
The main character represented for hope and bravery. Although some people might not agree, the message of this movie is that the good will always return.

Genpatsu-Kun and Nuclear boy
First, I am always surprised at Japanese culture's tolerance for the word poop. There are comic characters and even little ornaments designed in the shape of poop, and I have to admit that they are cute.
It is clever to link the nuclear explosion to something happens in people's daily life and can be easily understand by children. Although it is less in seriousness, it indeed helped children to get a general understanding of the explosion.
The animation, character, sound, color and background image used in Genpatsu-kun are livelier than in Nuclear boy, which could be better for attract children's attention. The Japanese version should a strong attention toward restore people's confidence while the English version's tone is more neutral.

Unplugging
I thought that I forgot to turn off my hair iron this morning so I had to go back home and unplug the cord( I thought it would be faster to unplug the cord instead of checking if I turned off). Thank god nothing happened but from now on, I'll just unplug the cord no matter what. Lisa
Genpatsu-kun and Nuclear Boy
On Friday in our listening class, we watched two videos on the nuclear power plant in Fukushima. The videos were made soon after the earthquake happened. I thought the videos were appropriate and I can’t say it’s fully effective but it is somewhat effective to teach the children by using ‘’poop.’’ I don’t think there is anything strange in the way they explained, except for the expression which they used in the video was kind of dirty but other than that, it is made easy for children to understand. The two videos had the same content but in my opinion, English version was easier to understand than the Japanese version. The difference between the two videos is the character in the video. I think it's because the character in English version was more realistic and serious than the Japanese version and that might draw attention to children.
Gennpatukun&nuclear boy
The video served the function of explaining about the nuclear threat to the child very well. Using poop to explain about something that they don't really care about because they love poop and explain it with poop can catch more attention from the kids. However, the poop and farts are not really serious and does not explain how dangerous it is. The Japanese version was more emotional, was more about the morality and thanking the "doctors". I probably got those impressions since the animation was hand drawn and the voice over was done by human voice. The American version, however, gave more of a educational feelings and focused on explaining the situation since it was more computer graphic and with robotic voice.

Genpatsu kun and nuclear boy
I think the video genpatsu-kun and nuclear boy are easy to understand. Since its target audience was children, I don't think that there was any problem with the characters. People in another country might find it a little bit disturbing but last week me and mina saw a kanji book that is called "unko", it made me think that maybe it is really an effective way for japanese kids to have interest and not be bored with the topic of nuclear issues. The japanese and the englsih version shared a similar theme. The japanese version was simple while the english version was a little bit realistic.
A lost child
When I entered the automatic door of my apartment building, I saw the little boy standing on tiptoe pressing the door bell while tears ran down his cheek. He followed when I opened the door and entered the elevator. I was worried that he might not be able to get into the house because no one had answered the door bell, so I went check on him just in case and found him standing in front of the elevator trying hard to hold his tears back. He told me that he had been waiting for his mother for an hour, and they are planning to buy some shoes for his sister. He can't remember his parents' phone number and I had to take him to the security room.
Varmints
The main character was this white furry animal with a nozzle,
two long black ears, and a long tail.
It lived on a field with many of its kind.
One day, some black kinds came with an iron-gray city
and all the plants died except for a branch that the main creature
was able to brake off a tree he used to nap under.
The white one started to live in the city,
grew the branch in a pot and started to write a book.
The city was so polluted that the black ones were black because of the ash,
and many became sick then died.
One night, white glowing blobs that grew from the plant flew away,
and started to grow, encroaching the buildings.
Few nights later when the white one woke up from its nightmare of dying,
it finds gigantic white glowing jellyfishes floating through the city,
collecting all livings. The white one sees shadows inside
that looks like its kind, and wanted to join.
At last, it got collected inside the jellyfish with the branch
which had a field like the one it used to live and met its friend again.
I think that the white one died in his bed, getting sick by the pollution.
The scenes after jumping up from its nightmare are just the story
it wrote on the book, so it was the fantasy that the white creature had in mind.

Genpatsu-kun and Nuclear Boy
Well, it was kind of strange but I don't think it was inappropriate.
Although I am not sure it was effective.
It may not give much attention to the fact that we have no idea what to do with nuclear waste and the seriousness of the situation, but it is a video to assure that we are safe, so maybe they lack the seriousness on purpose.
The English one dropped a few things mentioned in the Japanese one but it may catch better attention of children outside of Japan. Still, it sounded so fiction and maybe it was hard to connect it to the actual news.
Computer problem
I turned my computer on when I woke,
and I just tried to print out some papers now,
but it just froze.
Panicking now!

Genpatsu-kun and Nuclear Boy
1. My opinion: I can understand why the Japanese used unchi to portray the topic. I have a brother in elementary school, and one of his biggest muses is, unchi (yes, still...😵). That will catch the child's attention and keep them interested throughout the videos.
2.Criticism: At first,I didn't like the idea of using unchi as an example, but I couldn't find a better alternative, so I admit that is clever!
3.Comparison: The second video seemed more serious to me than the first. Why?I think the characters in the second video was scarier than the first. I also think the robotic voice in the second video was scarier👍

Genpatsu-kun and Nuclear boy
Watching "Genpatsu-kun" and "Nuclear boy" made me feel uncomfortable, however, I think they are nice and easy for children to understand about the nuclear disaster which happened in Japan. The fact that the two videos were using poo to describe the nuclear disaster might seem inappropriate, but it definitely catches children's attention. When I was on the train, heading to school, I saw an advertisement of a Chinese character text book which uses the word poo in all of the example sentences. It was interesting to see the ad because I think it shows the acceptance of the word poo in Japanese society.
If I had to pick which video I liked better, I would choose the "Genpatsu-kun" video. The "Nuclear boy" video's narration sounded like robots and the main character was a brown skinned boy so I thought that will make some people uncomfortable watching the video.
Both stories were almost identical and I liked the last message. However, I thought both videos were teaching false information to the children. After watching the video I was confused because the video seemed to tell us that the nuclear disaster is a short term thing and not that of a big deal. Maybe the creator of the video wanted to comfort the children assuring they will be fine, however, I think they deserve to know the truth just like us. I liked the simpleness and the easiness of the two videos but it should have had more real information about the disaster.

Gempatsu-kun and nuclear boy
The contents of the two were the same, but I felt that the English one was more serious. Maybe it was the background music and gempatsu-kun's lines that made the Japanese one more comical.
Since the word "poo" is regularly used among children, this would be a good source to let them know and feel a little closer to the big issue. At first, I thought it was inappropriate to use such words for this serious nuclear problem, but now I think these have a positive influence. I thought it is important to understand the part where the narrator said we have to appreciate doctors who are treating gempatsu-kun though it has risks.
I was also surprised that this video was released in only 4 days after the earthquake came, and that it was soon translated in English too.

I don't know why but I choose to take manual transmission driver's license so I'm having hard time getting used to it... I started going driving school since January and I want to finish it until August so I can get ready to take you guys to beach in SUMMER!!☀️
Gempatsu-kun and nuclear boy
On our listening class we watched short videos about nuclear power plant. Both has exactly the same content and idea. However Japanese version seemed more easy to understand because the animation was simpler and idea of describing exposed radiation as "poo" was very familiar expression for Japanese kids. Compared to that, translated version was rather hard to hear since it was automated voice. Overall the video were criticized a lot but I thought it was not a big deal as it was mainly made for children, it didn't have to be complicated. However that doesn't mean they can share a false information, for example they said the stink will disappear within a week but radiation will remain for long time and still radiation concentration is high in Fukushima.
Monday
I am feeling dizzy now after five hours of reading... I have researched 375 words so far according to my dictionary, and I really have to work on my vocabulary
Genpatsu-kun and Nuclear Boy
I think the video was easy for children to understand that disaster had happended in Fukushima. However, it was kind of too simple. For example, I wanted more specific and technical information about what genpatsu is and why it is so dangerous for humans. That way, I think children who live far away from Fukushima would be able to recognize the reality and the hardships of Fukushima people.
I think it was appropriate to use "poop" as radio active materials for Japanese children because it is one of the easiest and most clear way to compare unwanted things. I also liked how the ending was encouraging and reminding us to thank the "doctors" who are working hard in the hazardous areas.
The English version was more realisticly animated than the Japanese version. The Japanese version was more like a non human character. The two videos were clear and easy to understand the issue in Japan. Non Japanese people may have felt a little bit uncomfortable or awkward about the cartoon "poop".

Saturday & Sunday
This weekend passed so quickly!!
On Saturday, my friends and I had a picnic at Inokashira Park. How long had it been since I last played with water guns and swings?😂
Yesterday, I went to my favorite artist's event with Yuma💫 Very full day that time flew in a blink of an eye!
brand new week!!
Hello guys🤗
It's a brand new week! Let's make it a good one☺️
(Spreading positivity to everyone lol)
I was terrified..
Yesterday, I went to an event with Hanae and there was a man who was holding a paper bag carefully using both hands. He was looking around constantly and not looking at the performing artist. He was even listening to music with his ear phones. I got really scared because his actions somehow reminded me of the bombing in Ari's concert. I know it's not good to judge people just from their appearances or actions but the photos I saw from the Manchester attack flashed back at me and I was terrified. It's so sad that the terrorists act affected me.
Monday
I just cannot believe it is already Monday! Weekend passed so quickly...so many things to do this week...
By the way I am going to Tohoku this coming weekend to have a fencing match with the people from Tohoku Gakuin! I can't wait to go to Sendai.

Genpatsu-Kun and Nuclear Boy Video
In our IE Listening class, we watched two versions of a video about the nuclear power plant in Fukushima. It explained the devastating situation that Japan was facing right after the Tohoku Earthquake. Making an animation character "Genpatsu-kun" and using examples such as stomache, doctors, and most importantly, poos, the video aimed to explain the situation to children, presumably elementary school students.
It may have been an effective way and a beneficial influence for children since it was easy to accept and understand the frame of the problem. In Japanese version, the narrator talked humorously and the pictures were colored more lightly, making it easier for children to accept the video. It was very informative and educaional, and it also told us to be thankful for the doctors' hard work. English version video had the same content yet it sounded more serious and devastating due to the robotic narrator and the dark, scary pictures. There were less criticism in Japan and a lot in foreign countries. This is probably because Japanese people have more torelance towards unchi than other countries. If I were a child, I would watch and use it to learn about the crisis our country is conforting. Some who criticized in Japan may be parents that think poos and farts are inappropriate and do not want their children to be badly influenced by the video.
Genpatsu-kun attempted to explain the impelling situation to children and reassure that it will be alright. However, more than six years have passed since the earthquake and our country is still working on nuclear power plant issues. It did inform the difference between Chernobyl disaster and Three Mile Island accident and told that Japan will be okay, but were still not okay. Envirnomentally, this video was not 100% true.
Overall, I think this video was an effecive way to present the frame of the issue to the children and let them want to know and learn more about it.

Friday
Good evening, everyone!
Hope you all had a great weekend.
On Friday, there was a graduation ceremony at a school I used to go to when I lived abroad.
I was planning to go but since I had classes on Friday, I wasn't able to book the plane ticket.
I still regret not being able to go. But the happy news is some of my friends there are visiting Japan for summer and I get to see them! I can't wait!!
Anyways, see you all on Tuesday :)

Genpatsu kun
Both Genpatsu Kun and Nuclear Boy were about exact same topic which was the nuclear power plant in Fukushima prefecture.
For Genpatsu Kun, the animation and the voice of a narrator were very comical, and I thought it was more for children. On the other hand, Nuclear Boy was in darker mood. The animation was scarier and the voice of a narrator sounded like a robot is talking.
Personally, I did not feel very comfortable watching the video because of poops and farts so I think that is why some people are opposed to this video. I am sure I enjoyed the video if I were a kid.

TELL LECTURE
Tell Lifeline is a free, anonymous and confidential English-language telephone counseling service offered throughout Japan.
In this lecture I notice how hardly I knew about Bullying.
Bullying is a distinctive pattern of harming and humiliating others, specifically those who are i someway smaller, weaker, younger, or in anyway more vulnerable than the bully.
☝The effect on Bullying on school.
・Develop an environment of fear and disrespect.
・Students experiencing difficulty in learning.
・Students disliking school, and never come to school.
☝Being Bullied and suicide risk.
・Depressive symptoms.
・Harming themselves.
・Higher rate of suicidal thoughts.
・Attempted suicide.
I myself was not bullied in my whole entire life but I had experienced being a bystander in third grade. When I was walking to go to the bathroom, I heard a big loud screaming noise from a small room next to the bathroom. Two girls were saying mean and cruel things to the vulnerable little girl. I knew I had to do something but I was too scared at that time. I thought maybe if I go out there and help her out, I might get bullied as well. So I left that situation as if I hadn't seen anything. I had never told about the situation to my teacher or my friends.
That vulnerable little girl eventually quit school. I had no words. From that moment, I came to hate myself for how selfish I was. I knew I could have put a stop to the situation by telling the teacher or put my full energy to step into that place and convince the bullyer to put a stop to it.
I consider Tell Lifeline very necessary for people being bullied. However, this tool will not clearly prevent the rate of bullying. In my personal view, training should be offered for all teachers to respond to the bullying. Teacher's job is not only to educate facts to students but also to observe each students and reinforce each potentials. teachers needs the ability to see the relationship of each students and see whether everyone is getting along with each other. If not, maybe the teacher can have a school life.

Nuclear boy and genpatsu-kun
Genpatsu -kun
I thought that it was a nice way to attract children's attention. Especially, the voice actor's voice and the animation were nice for kids to watch. Along with these factors, the colors used were also nice; many of the colors were in pastel.
Nuclear boy
The animation in this video was more violent and dark compared to the one in Japanese. For instance, the nuclear boy wore weird and wicked eye cover and the doctors had scary expressions. The background colors were also dark as well.
Both videos talked about the nuclear power plant accident in Fukushima. Since the creator thought this news would be hard for children to understand but is necessary for them to know, the creator referred this accident to human waste and gas that humans produce.
I cannot understand why some people criticized this video that it is inappropriate when the video was released because today, a kanji drill with 💩 is sold and it is one of the best selling books. Many parents are actually agreeing with the kanji drill because the kids are studying the kanjis with their own motive. Because of this reason, I cannot think that this video was inappropriate. Sometimes, a bit of humor and inappropriate expressions are necessary in order to attract people's attention.
However, I could not agree with some contents of the video because they are wrong. The video mentioned that nuclear power plant accident will recover in two days but I cannot think this is true. If it were to end in two days, why is the government still arguing with this accident? It does not mean that false informations can be released just because the target does not know anything. Every informations should be true.

Sorry I'm Late...! TELL LECTURE
I have never learned or ever thought about bullying further, so this lecture was interesting for me. Since I'm now in a new environment, I think it was a good opportunity for everyone. The lecturer, Ms.Naohara, who called her self "princess" and kept the lecture interesting, told us about ways people can get bullied and how we can all give a hand to each other. Now that we're all in college, we will be on the internet more than before. The lecture taught me that we should be careful with how to use the internet. Anyone can be bullied from there, and I thought it was important to once again think about the way we use the service.

laughable expression
So tonight I was having a discussion with four people outside the university, a teacher was there leading the discussion. We talked about freedom of expression and that was interesting. The teacher recommended a book called "The J Curve", I guess I should read it sometimes. So what funny was, one of the members interrupted two times when I was talking, at the second time I asked if he could let me finish my sentence first, and he look so shocked that he couldn't breath for a few seconds. 😱😱 his facial expression was really amusing. Sorry for been verbose, I'm so sleepy and I don't know what I'm talking about 😂

My room is a mess right now that I can't even find the stuff I need...I always take a time lapse with my iPhone when I clean my room to see make my friends see how hard I worked lol

I have a problem
When I write something on the paper or anywhere, 100% of the people tells me how my handwriting looks just like how a little boy writes.
So, to overcome this issue I started penmanship.
I hope this will make a change in my handwriting.💕💕💕💕💕
By the way, write me some comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rainy Season
Rainy season is coming.
I hope it rains a lot so we won't have water problems in the Summer, but I don't like when it rains hard. I kind of like the smell of wet asphalt after it rained.

Ink cartridges
I want Costco near my living place because cost is fill up the ink cartridges for printer. This not only is wallet friendly but is eco friendly as well. Companies should definitely start this program...
Need to change my habit
Many of you might have noticed already that I am the kind of person who leaves everything until the last minute. I want to change myself but I just can't...!
I'm also worried about sliding into the classroom just on time everyday. I should come a lot earlier but I just can't...!

TELL lecture
•over 60% of the callers to the TELL lifeline are Japanese even though TELL is an english speaking lifeline.
•survey done in 2013 by the Japanese government said that about 69 % of young people under the age of 24 were reporting that they were bullied and harassed.
•bullying is all around. it can be anyone.
•bullying can take many different forms, physical, verbal, emotional, social, direct, indirect, involves unwanted aggressive behavior toward an individual that involves power and balance.
•the internet is potentially forever.
•depression and anxiety can affect people our age.
•don't be a bystander, be an upstander..
someone who has the guts to speak out.
•empathy, engaging with others
•empathy helps to motivate bystanders to become up standers.
•show empathy by becoming better listeners.
listen actively. don’t prepare your respond.
invest your time.
In this lecture, the princess talked a little about cyber stalking and it reminded me of my friend who actually experienced cyber stalking which eventually led to real life stalking. She was posting her location on snapchat and Instagram story. We really have to be careful what we post, considering the fact about digital foot print and disclosure of personal information.

Rainy day🍬
I was planning to go to Shimokitazawa to take portrait of my friend but because of the sudden heavy rain in the afternoon it was cancelled so I took picture of raindrops in front of my house☔️
TELL lecture
The lecture was not really new to me but still it was very interesting with sentimental videos, information, and especially amazing presenters. I had chance to come up in the front of the class with several people and learn about "collaboration" by simple physical game.
When I used to go to international school, fortunately I haven't had any experiences of bullying, however my friend from another international school told me that she got in some kind of bullying. I think it is sometimes very hard to distinguish whether they are telling jokes or they are making fun of them and tries to bully. I thought everyone should be aware of bullying because each one of us can be bullies or be bullied.
It was good time to reconsider about bullying and double check of saving personal information on social networking services.

TELL Lecture
Though I've listened to this kind of lecture many times, it was a good chance to rethink about both bullying and cyber bullying.
When Ms.Naohara mentioned about by-standers, it recalled me of my experience regretting being a by-stander a few years ago. I want to keep on being careful and be able to find SOS from others.
I also realized the importance of active listening. I try to do so whenever I talk with someone, but it made me think that even if I can't advise them, it makes them feel a little better just by listening.
She said no human being deserves to be bullied. I completely agree with this, and I thought I should be careful not to be both a victim and an unconscious bullier too.

Bullying lecture
I thought that it is a very good idea to make a place where bullied non-Japanese speaking people could open up about their bullying. It was very shocking to know that anyone can be bullies and be bullied. I thought that bullying should be more concerned since many people die from bullying.
TELL lecture
The lecture that were discussed by TELL was not new to me. However it made me
rethink about bullying. I have not experience being bullied and bullying or having a friend that
came to me saying he or she is being bullied. With the lecture discussed by TELL
it gave me an idea on how to approach and deal with a friend that is being bullied.
Giving them courage and cheering them up is one thing, but showing empathy and letting
them know that they could open up to you is another.
I think that in todays generation, since most of elementary students have smartphones,
Educating them about bullying is certainly very important!

Bullying and Cyberbullying Lecture
The TELL lifeline and outreach service has been by our side since 1990, but this was the first time for me to know the existence. Although not many information in the lecture were new, it was still very interesting and beneficial for me.
The ways of bullying are changing. It used to be relatively visible, but nowadays it is difficult to find out because of verbal bullying and cyberbullying, which are usually unnoticeable just by a single glance.
Bullying can happen to anyone at any time, and the lecture made me reconsider that it is everybody's problem. During the talk, the speaker, Ms. Naohara, stated, "No human being deserves to be bullied." These are the words that vividly remain in my mind. I have never become a victim, a bully, or a bystander before, but if I were to come across bullying, I would introduce TELL to everyone or use it myself.
After listening to this talk, I set myself a goal to be an up-stander as well as an active listener. I would like to be an up-stander who can speak up for those in need. I also want to gain active listening skills so that I can understand and interact with people more deeply.
Overall, the TELL lecture was a very good opportunity for me to think a lot about bullying and what we can do to somehow decrease the number of people suffering from it.

Pronouncing
R is a sound that Japanese does not have,
so people in Japan often don't care if it sounded like L.
This morning, I saw this cm that was written something like
"Morning Fresh Ham"
Well, that sounds nice.
But then, it started to sing like
"Flesh, flesh flesh~♪"
Well yeah, ham is flesh,
but I didn't feel like eating any meat this morning.

2. no snacks allowed.
3. drink much water as possible.
Our goal is loosing 5kg in two months!!!!!!!!!

TELL lecture
Since I heard a similar lecture to TELL before, the lecture wasn't something new. Though, the lecture made me rethink about bullying and its side effects, mainly the victim's psychological effect(depression and anxiety), human relationship, health, and performance because these so affect the victim very deeply. And, I also agreed when thr lecturer(Ms. Naohara) mentioned that power harrasment is also a kind of bullying because some workers are carrying a headache at their workplace because of power harassment and some are mentally damaged on top of it.
I also liked how Ms. Naohara conveyed the lecture. For instance, she exemplified herself as "princess" and attracted many people's attention. This made the lecture not umboring.
It is hard to make world bully- free, but if others are able to notice some SOS of the victim, the victim might not have to end up committing suicide. So, in order to prevent from those cases, I thought that people should know more know about TELL program. And, if I know someone who is suffering with bullying and power harrasment, I would like to introducr this program. Of course, if I have a time when I struggle with human relationships, I would like to use this program as well. Lisa

TELL lecture (bullying)
The lecture is presented by director of TELL, Vickie Skorjv and the outreach coordinator Najwa Waheed Naohara.
TELL lifeline is a free telephone counseling service and it provides many languages.
Outreach program of TELL aims to increase awareness of mental issues by set up workshops for students and parents. It also receives questions from the public and search for the solution in TELL.
According to the statistic data showed by Ms. Naohara, there are 49% of people who aged under 24 have participated in bullying. It has been a serious problem in Japan since many teenagers have committed suicide because of physical and mental suffering. Buylling does not only exist behind the closed doors, a large proportion of them happens in open places where many people can see.
Nagative impact could influence both the victim and the bully, also the bystanders. There is a movie in 2016 called "koenokatachi ", which talked about the bully himself later became the victim of bullying, who became isolated and than suffered from regret and hatred for three years. Bullying also happens among children, sometimes the bully did not understand the harm that could cause by his or her action. Bystanders play an essential part in bullying. By showing support toward the victim or doubt the bully, the situation might have changed.
People who are suffering from bullying could be noticed by obvious patterns such as abnormal behaviors, bruise, or have depressive symptoms. It is hard to talk about oneself's suffering to another, so try to listen more carefully and understand their feelings are important.

Intro quiz
Today, I joined the circle's event. At the event, the group and I played intro quiz of music, shiritori(?), and mutual understanding game. I literally aced the intro quiz! Yay! But, I'm sooooo shocked that I couldn't answer my favorite artist's music. Gotta study(?) more! Lisa
TELL Lecture
We had a lecture given by two speakers, Vicki Skorji and Najwa Waheed Naohora. The lecture was mainly given by Najwa, but Vicki talked to us about the lifeline of TELL and the outreach programs. Najwa talked to us about what organization she works for, the kinds of bullying, the signs of bullying, who might be more vulnerable to bullying and how can we show empathy or be an active listener for the victim of the bully.
After hearing the lecture, I knew most of the things about what she told about the bullying and cyberbullying, but I now know that we should understand bullying and cyberbullying can happen to anyone. Also, we should teach and educate people young age that bullying and cyberbullying is not something that they should do and because of this, many young people commit suicide and lose their life at a very young age. The lecture was helpful in terms of knowing that there's a help for those who got bullied and if I happen to be in a situation like this, I would definitely love to use TELL as a source to find a solution to the problem of bullying or cyberbullying.
