Dat bloke in class

Dear bloke in class

You are European but also Asian

To mingle yet never plan for an occasion

Dialect of the south never divid, all the same even with cross borders

The tales of folklore never weary as they are still common

Wine rises becoming the centre of unpigmented blank

The fundamental essence of awareness, authenticity, and universe intrigue you as if they were puzzles that never fit into a satisfy that transcends

A theory of the cosmos no moment travels

Interest may vary but never limited

The finite things become limitless in your means

Wonderers in Limbo, but you voyage through life

You are many things but also all in one.

Goddess of Whisper

Your gentle whisper
Evanescent, a butterfly
Gazing at my houseplant
Longing for answers
Mesmerizing is your whisper
Withering and blooming

Whispering after you,

Whe-when you're lost and you're searching for meaning
Hope you find all the things you've been needing
Let it go, it's behind you
Know I'm beside you if you go

My best friend for as long as I've remembered, STRESS.

So. You may be wondering, "Heck, is she gonna blow?"

The answer is: Un poco. A little bit. (I don't even know if I'm using Spanish correctly at this point leave me be TwT)

So, for as long as I've remembered, I've cried almost every single day of my childhood. Actually, since I don't remember much myself, I'll talk about what I heard from my parents. Apparently, I cried from how cold it was in Chicago. The start of my crybaby habit may have started from there. What I remember is crying almost every single day from Kindergarten because I had to go through the stress of going to a normal American school, but I also had to go to a separate Japanese school. On days and times during the day that other children would have been playing around.

And you see, even now, I'm really antisocial. I'm trying to grow out of it, but honestly.. I just can't. I'm not sure about what exactly caused it(I know probably around half the reason why but I won't address that matter-) but I know for sure that my self esteem is way under average. I can't just say what I like because I get paranoid about if the other person likes it too and they don't like other fans.

I feel as if I can't do or accomplish anything, and that people start to hate me for being dumb and unproductive. (I promise I'm not lazy.. I know I act like it but would you think I was lazy if I told you I've never been late for class and I turn in every assignment in on time?) It gets even worse than this simple blog. I fought with my best friend over her actions not being used appropriately and how it hurt my feelings, I have to fight with the dreadful feeling of "What if I don't have friends and I'm just hallucinating.", and "What if they all hate me because I can't go out with them?"

Lack of communication honestly.. But I can't help it. Before I even try to say anything, my heart tells me that I'm not fit to be anywhere. I don't have a place to belong and that no matter how much I'm trying to avoid it, I'll be alone. Being alone honestly scares me because when I was in middle school, I faced something that was close to bullying and my teacher did nothing to help solve the problem. In high school, I made friends but I never went out to go play anywhere with them until the end because it was basically our last time we would see each other. I'm not used to going out and playing with anyone in general, so I turn down any request wherever I go. It scares me about what my parents would say if I wasted their money for something that wouldn't benefit me.

Pure stress and confusion makes me cry every day, even now. Somedays, I wake up with puffy eyes even though I never had them when crying, up until now in Uni. It's honestly annoying but stress from all sides, especially relationships with friends is the worst right now.

Aaaaanyways, that's too much for one night. I don't even understand what I'm typing at this point.

A modest proposal

When did the career choice of pirates disappear?

What if I wanna hang out with my friends wearing extravagant outfits and travel the world? What if I wanna grow a beard and say goofy jokes?

If all you patriots say it's because they don’t pay taxes, they live in the ship so they’re on international waters. If i am being honest, I think  I would be a sexy pirate. Who wouldn’t want to be robbed by me?

Plus blue is my color so I’ll look great at sea.

You know what else, I don’t think I'm the only one who thought the Captain Hook plank scene was hot. The thought of being tied up and be forced to step till your death while being watched by the captain has astronomical sexual tension.

Anyways, make sure not to live near the docs in the future unless you want the lash of Shizuku the Pirate king.

Running pt.2

This is an update on my last running blog. After uploading that blog entry, I suddenly started losing feelings towards running. I dreaded stepping on the machine, my legs felt heavier, and I ended up switching to walking.

A couple days after, I decided to push myself again. I start my run with a quick 5 minute warm up per usual, going 8 km per hour. I usually dread this part, but for some reason that day.... the warm up felt different. I was not struggling one bit, and my legs still felt like feathers. Not one part of my body was in pain. I had no side stitches. I was practically in heaven.

That's when I realised, I was high. Very, very, high. More specifically, I was getting runner's high.

For those of you who don't know, runner's high is a short-lasting, deep euphoric state following intense exercise. You kind of lose all thoughts, and running feels like an easy task. Legs are moving freely, and your breathing feels natural. I have been wanting to experience this for the longest time, and my dream finally came true.

It was for sure one of the best runs I've ever been on. I have heard that professional long distance runners (marathon runners) experience this every time they run. No wonder they can run for hours every single day.

This got me thinking, how if this is what drugs do to the human body, I can see why people can become severely addicted. Not that I'm promoting drugs. But it really was an eye opening experience.

An anecdote of loneliness

How could a finger puppet book be so absolutely gut wrenchingly sad.

Little Shark’s home is deep in the sea
He is surrounded by fish but they always flee
All the little shark wants are a few nice friends
But when they come near
He always offends
Little shark just wants to have a fun day
Play hide and seek in the surf and swim ‘round the bay
But poor little shark spends his days all alone
Is it too much to ask for a friend of his own
The starfish must have read little sharks mind
He’ll make the perfect new friend
He’s one of a kind!
Not only has little shark found a best friend
But he found a gold star
The kind you know will glow from afar

Floor Nap

When June rolls around, it means the following:

No.1 It's rainy season.

No.2 No more hay fever.

No.3 It's pride month.

But most importantly, No.4 I get to sleep on the floor without catching a cold.

Now, when I say sleep on the floor, I don't mean laying down on a soft mattress carefully placed on the floor. I'm also not referring to those carpet-covered floors. I'm talking about full on laying down on a solid, hardwood floor.

Some people say that's psychotic. I would argue it to be a therapeutic experience. Naps are great in itself, but when it happens on the floor... it's a whole different experience.

Yes, my bed is located literally 5 centimeters away from where I'm currently laying. And yes, I can feel my bones rubbing against the wooden plank. But that's what makes it pleasurable. The neck cracks afterwards are seriously next level.

During the winter time, I don't get to do that. The floor is freezing cold and laying there for even a minute will make me shiver. But now that it's getting warmer... I get to do that whenever I want.

I have yet to meet a fellow floor sleeper, but I am convinced I am not alone. If you are interested, do try it the next time you're about to fall asleep. It's absolutely life changing.

Strange books on my bookshelf

Strange yet interesting books:

The Myth of the Eternal Return (Mircea Eliade)
The Hero with a Thousand Faces (Joseph Campbell)
Maps of Meaning (Jordan B. Peterson)
The Origin and History of Consciousness (Erich Neumann)
The Cosmic Serpent (Jeremy Narby)
The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross (John M. Allegro)
The Secret of the Golden Flower (Richard Wilheim, C.G.Jung)
Alchemy: An Introduction to the Symbolism and the Psychology (Marie-Louise von Franz)
Alchemical Active Imagination (Marie-Louise von Franz)
Mandala (C.G. Jung)
The Undiscovered Self (C.G. Jung)
The Red Book (C.G. Jung)
Individuation in Fairy Tales (Marie-Louise von Franz)
On Divinization and Synchronicity (Marie-Louise von Franz)

These are some of the books I have on my bookshelf.
Don't worry. I won't become a cult leader.
I read such books not because I like them but exactly because I do not understand them.
Say alchemy. What the hell is that?
Exactly. I don't know either.
But it's so interesting to learn new "strange" ideas that emerge from the human unconscious.
We only see the surface of the iceberg.
Why not explore the "unexplored territory"?
That's why I read Jung with great pleasure.
He does something quite peculiar, which is a thorough scientific investigation of the unconscious, such as dreams.
Is dream analysis science or art?
I have no idea. I should just embrace my pillow and count my sheeps for now.

Gute Nacht!

"nonoyuri"

So uh, since it looks like we’re all talking about our names here I thought I’d hop on board.

As you may or may not know, my name is Noyuri Yamazaki. Nice to meet you all.

Yamazaki is obviously a very very common name here. Yamazaki bread, Daily Yamazaki,...you name it, there’s probably a brand with Yamazaki in its name.

But Noyuri on the other hand….

Believe it or not, my name was actually taken from the bible. Which is kinda ironic, considering I’m not religious in the slightest. But my parents and relatives are. My dad’s side is Christian, and my mom’s side Buddhist. My name was picked out by my grandmother on my dad’s side.

It comes from a phrase in the bible: 「野の百合」 or in English, "lily of the field”. Whenever I joined in at church when visiting my grandparents as a child, I’d always set out on a mission to find my name in whatever bible I can get my tiny hands on. Never was I fruitful, sadly, until one day my grandmother (I guess she was exasperated with me always burying my nose in the bible) showed me herself. I was devastated. I’d always thought that my name, 「野百合 」or 「のゆり」would be in there as it is, but I discovered that day that it wasn’t. I’d been lied to.

As for nicknames, I’ve gone by many in the past; Noyu, Yuri, Yama-chan, Zaki-san, Lily. I think I like Noyu, it feels the most like me. My parents call me that, and all my closest childhood friends too. So yeah, nice to meet you everyone, I’m Noyuri, but you can call me Noyu:)

bonus!!

So hahahah funny story. Back when I lived in the states, NOBODY could pronounce my name except for a few of my bestest friends. So for a large portion of my life, I tragically went by  “Noo-yoh-ri”:D I’d correct people at first, but after a while I just gave up. Once, a substitute teacher miraculously pronounced my name right on their first try and I was quietly celebrating in my head, when this girl in my class actually CORRECTED the teacher and told her that it was Nooyori D: And being the shy little kid I was, I did nothing… SO glad that’s over.

By the way, the “correct” pronunciation of my name(or what I branded as correct, taking into account American pronunciation)  is “No” as in the opposite of yes, “yur” as in the first syllable of Europe, and eeeee. But obviously the regular Japanese way of pronouncing it is ACTUALLY the correct way so that’s totally fine too.

Varmints (I apologize for my lateness)

 Who?

The main character in this short film is the anthropomorphic creature who has a fascination with plants, most likely what the title “Varmint” is referring to.

What is happening?

The story starts off with the “varmint” observing plants and relaxing underneath a tree in a grassy field, when an army of creatures just like the varmint start raising countless gray buildings, eventually killing all of the greenery in the area. The varmint manages to take just one branch off of the tree before it dies, and goes through a lot of trouble to keep it alive as he starts working amongst the others in the dark city. One night, small glowing orbs grow on the plant and float off, landing on buildings around the city. As the days pass, the city gets sicker and the orbs grow bigger until one day, when it seems that the state of the city couldn’t get any worse, the orb become floating jellyfish-like creatures and start picking up the habitants of the city with their tentacles. It seems chaotic at first, but the varmint soon realizes that once picked up, they will be placed in a nicer place, where they can reunite with their loved ones.

When?

It’s not established when in history this story takes place, but one thing about the time frame is that many things happen within a very short amount of time. The story is full of symbolism, and it seems as though it tells the story of industrialization but in a figurative and concise way.

Where?

The place where the story takes place is at first a sunny, wide, seemingly utopian green field full of various plants and insects, but it turns into a dark, crowded city full of polluted air.

Why is this happening?

From the film itself, it is unclear why any of these things are occurring, but it can be inferred that the events refer to the industrialization of nature, which is something that is caused by humans being greedy.

How does it end?

It ends with the varmint, exhausted, being picked up by the glowing jellyfish-like creatures, waking up inside in the utopian grass field, and realizing that the girl from the lower floor and the plant that it took care of are also there. Outside, things that resemble dandelion seeds can be seen raining down on the city and seemingly making it better.

What’s the Theme?

The theme of this short film is the excessive and rapid industrialization of the earth, the consequences that come with it, and the way making an extra effort to take care of nature can make a large difference.

Some things never change

There are some things that I planned for my university life. To study and experience life through the lens of a student. There are so many questions wondering around my head, and yet I am compelled in my bed suffering. The inability to have motivation or energy to do anything. This situation reminds me of something. Oh, right. This is the very same situation that I was stuck in during my high school years. I guess we just repeat everything over and over without knowing it. It feels like it, but I also feel that I'm more connected to everything and nothing all the time. I guess this also mean we never really grow  up do we?

Varmints

  Who?

Varmints, is what they call a creature looking similar to Oswald in Mickey Mouse. A variety of tiny and enormous creatures.

What is happening?

The story begins in a very tranquil world. One of the varmints was enjoying their time, when all of a sudden, the grey sky destroys and pollutes nature. The varmints suffer spiritually and physically, some of them even perish on the streets.

When?

The society seems similar to modern society where we live in nature and yet we pollute it with our demands for a more luxurious lifestyle.

Where

A technologically advanced city.

Why is this happening?

They continue to pollute mother nature, in the same way to what we are doing to our earth that we currently live in.

How does it end?

An army of jellyfish looking creatures take back what belongs to nature.

What is the theme?

We people are so caught up in our own lives that we forget to cherish nature to the point we take advantage. As a result, the destruction of life itself.

Interaction

So I realized that I probably accidentally used the old format to write my interaction... Please end me.

The date was early because I accidentally made it early(I wasn't sure when the interaction was and I made it on the week of a listening report if I recall) and I probably meant to write May 12, 2022.(I forgot to erase the 'th' too)

And the name of the assignment too! Why did I keep it as media discussion!?

I also forgot about the way of writing the name too.. Magalhaes E.? I believe this was the correct way?

Any travel recommendations?

Sorry, I just realized I haven't turned my comments on.

Anyways, this summer, I'm planning to travel somewhere in Japan that I have never been to. It totally depends on my golf schedule, but I would like to go somewhere up north or west for a couple of days.

Do you guys have any recommendations on where I should go?

The end of the f***ing world

I watched all of the series of this and I enjoyed it. It was about all these messed up people in there messed up world, and actually had nothing to do with the end of the world. I liked both of the main characters. I liked James because he actually cares about people and the only kinda normal person. Alyssa had issues but what can you expect from a child who was raise in a house like that. But I didn't like Bonnie at all. It was hard to watch the episode when she was one of the main characters. I didn't like the why she walked, talked, smiled, thought or dressed.

Part-time job

I work at a Izakaya near my house. Yesterday was my 6th time. Now I can fry fish, meat, fried potatoes, fired squid and fried octopus which is basically all the fired recipes we have. I can also make a don. At first I couldn't even tell which was the right way to put the fish on the rice but now I think I know... Not really confident about that but when I show the store manager and he doesn't say anything it good to go. I also had to crack a quail egg in a special way. I have seen the store manager do it and I tried to do it but it accidentally squirted next to me, and almost kindda got on the store manager. It was very crowded and the only people working in the kitchen were me and the store manager so we didn't have time for this. I think I was really testing his patience at this point. But surprisingly he was very kind. I hope I was at least a  little bit of a help.

Kanji

Surprise surprise, it's my 3rd blog entry this week. As you can kinda tell by the title, tonights blog is about kanji. Now don't get bored yet because this blog also talks about the current trending topic on the blog. Names! Since we're all in english major, we've probably never seen eachothers names written in kanji. So here is my name written in kanji. 佐々木優大. Its pretty plain isn't it, Sasaki and a Yuta. But the kanji for writing Yuta is a bit special as people would usually read it as Yuudai. Now don't think that my parents were stupid and forgot to put a dot in 大 to make it a 太 as you can read that as ta when put with 優. My parents used that to wish that I have a big kind heart as 優 can mean kind and nice and 大 means big. What I like about Japanese names is that you could make it mean something whereas in english a name can't represent anything like Bob, for example.( im not trying to say that Bob or English names in general are bad)

What is your name written in kanji and if the kanji for your name meansomething what does it mean? Let's all write a blog about names. Thanks Santa for giving us a great topic! And last thing, Arisa, your other name is gorgeous!

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Weeknd...

Hewwo 👉🏻👈🏻,

I really don't know what to write, but aside from catching up with my favorite manga/manhwa series, relaxing these past few days, and writing for this new project I got into--I've been actively reading up on PC builds!

I've always had a strong interest for streaming and content creation so I've been saving up for a PC for the past two years. Unfortunately, I don't have my own private space (or time) to stream so I've just been reading up on PC builds and what-not. I have a specific build in mind at the moment but I'll probably have to run it with my older brother when I finally start buying the parts.

Most of my friends have recently started streaming, and one of them has already made me a model. So we're all just having a great time connecting our lore with one another! Honestly, if streaming was impossible for me I'd still like to make videos. The specs of my current laptop wouldn't handle it though, so I've been trying to speed up the process of getting a PC. I could just get a better equipped laptop but it wouldn't be a good investment in the long run. Most of the things I would want to do would entail to gaming and larger scale editing, so a laptop wouldn't cut it.

If anyone knows a good PC parts shop, please let me know! Or if you have build recommendations! I'm not exactly well-versed in PC building yet, but I would be happy to hear from you :]

Routines for the concert

Good morning, guys. This time I want to share some routines for the concert. Actually I have a online concert of K-pop group, Cosmic girls, today. And I came to think I have some rules for it.

1. Check up the setlist

I am the person who can handle the spoiler so I look up for someone to upload the setlist and make a playlist. So that I can learn how to chant and sing. Because of that, I usually don't go to first day of the tour.

2.(ONLINE) Cleaning up the room

I clean up the room to enjoy the concert. I don't know why I want to do this but listening to the playlist while cleaning up make my work more faster.

3. (ONLINE) Preparing drink and food

Because the concert is online, I can drink and eat at anytime I want. This time I bought chai tea and some cookies to make my time more comfortable.

I think I have more but I cannot think of any... But this is the essential routines for me, especially no.1!

I hope someday in the future I can see my bias offline and see my friends at the concert.

I wish you have wonderful Sunday;)

Name and Synchronicity (C. G. Jung)

Happy Wednesday
I mean happy Thursda
It's past 12 so Happy Friday!!

Yuta, thank you for asking about the book on synchronicity! I found a great passage from the book that deals with our current trending topics (DESTINY and ORIGIN of NAMES) so I want to share it with you guys immediately!! It's mind-boggling.

PASSAGE (footnote 12 on p.11)

We find ourselves in something of a quandary when it comes to making up our minds about the phenomenon which Stekel calls the "compulsion of the name". What he means by this is the sometimes quite grotesque coincidence between a man's name and his peculiarities or profession. For instance Herr Gross (Mr. Grand) suffers from delusions of grandeur, Herr Kleiner (Mr. Small) has an inferiority complex. Herr Ferist (Mr. Stout) is the Food Minister, Herr Rosstaeuscher (Mr. Horsetrader) is a lawyer, Herr Kalberer (Mr. Calver) is an obstetrician, Herr Freud (joy) champions the pleasure-principle, Herr Adler (eagle) the will-to-power, Herr Jung (young) the idea of rebirth, and so on. Are these the whimsicalities of chance, or the suggestive effects of the name, as Steckel seems to suggest, or are they "meaningful coincidences"? ("Die Verpflichtung des Namens", 110ff.) (p.11)

What are your opinions?
Good Night :)

I'm Not Real

Hey buddy,

Since we opened up the subject of names this week, I wanted to talk about mine! Well, let me get you hooked--did you know that Arisa isn't my real name?

When I was a young boy my father did not take me to the city to see the marching band, but he and my mother did give me a terribly long name. And as a child who had to learn the 28 letters of the alphabet, this was the bane of my existence. After all, how could you expect a child to write their full name straight outta the bat?

How could they expect me to hit a home run with a name like:
Maria Manuela Cassandra R. [Regenio] Turingan?
Imagine writing this for a test--no, just imagine writing... (Very Exasperated) Writing!

Well, anyways, I never liked my name that much. It just felt too... biblical, y'know? Maria was a variation of the name Mary, while Manuela was the feminine version of Immanuel ('God is with us'). And, well, Cassandra was just another long, pretty name so--why not just add it to the cart, yeah? We can just get it through expedited free shipping along with my middle name and surname. Tee-hee. :D

But hey, that's not even the worst part. For the rest of my years as Maria Manuela Cassandra R. Turingan, everyone called me M̴̫̉ḁ̸̚n̵̨͘ū̵̼ȩ̸̑l̸̞̑a̷̬̒! I had three names for everyone to choose from but they had to collectively chose the worst one. (Uh, no offense to all the Manuelas out there.) Naturally, I had to condition my friends into calling me Maria instead, or my nickname, Iya. Neither of which I actually felt attached to, to be honest. Now, you must be wondering: how did Arisa come to be?

Well, buddy, I picked it out myself. Plucked it outta the shelf, shoved it into the cart, ripped off the price tag and made it mine. You see, when I came to Japan I was given the choice to either keep my absurd long name or... pick a new one--and, uh, you obviously know which yellow brick road I took. Frankly, I would rather lay my life down on the highway, get turned into road kill, turn into a worm, and eat my limb than write my full birth name in K̶͕͐a̷̞̓t̷̜̽a̷͇͝ḱ̸͈ạ̸̕ń̴͍a̴̻͊. But thanks to my very wise, cool, good decision I can now sleep comfortably at night. And now anytime I introduce myself to people, I would get comments on my name. Most of which were along the lines of--'you look like an Arisa'.

So, do you think you look like your name? Would you ever want to change your name? What does your name mean? Do you have any nicknames?

Yours,
Maria Manuela Cassandra R. Turingan

PS. I'm abusing the Cursed Font.

Emotional damage

I really don't know what to say, I've been burnt out for months and it doesn't feel very nice. It also doesn't feel nice when you know that life is throwing you around and you can't do anything to do anything about it because you're so upset every single second of the day and no matter how much you loved something before, it can't heal the damage done to your heart. I have too much to say but I feel like it might scar the eyes of the pure people in the class so I won't say it :skull: I'll try to prepare something more light for my next blog..

Walkman

Does anyone have a walkman? I was ranting on about how I like paying royalty fees to artists I really like instead of getting a subscription for unlimted music as artists only get a small amount of payment for their hardwork. Then, my friend  and I were talking about how we could pay full price for music to each artists while being able to listen to it outside the house. The solution we came up with was getting walkmans. You guys know them right? Unfortunately, it was kind of hard to obtain and it was pretty expensive to buy a second hand one. So we then thought of getting ipods. They were probably the best way we thought of. So a question for you all, do you guys have walkmans or ipods? I guess i'll go find my ancient ipod from the bottom of the boxes I haven't touched since I came back to Japan.

Destiny

Do you think destinies are real? I would like to believe that it is real but if we think about it deeply, all actions are caused by the choices we made in the past. So, everything that  happened or we decided by chance, wasn't by chance because all the other choices that you made in the past lead you to make that 'coincidental' choice. In physics there is an interesting paradox called the demon of Laplace. Before I explain it let me give you an idea of why we study physics. To put simply, physics is the subject to predict the future. If we knew all the measurments needed to do something, like you wanted to know where the cart will be in 10 seconds if the cart was moving at a speed of 20m/s at a constant velocity motion. Distance=Velocityxtime so we can predict that the car will be at the distance of 20mX10=200. With this in mind, if a thing(in this paradox its called the demon) knows every principle of the universe and knows all the formulas and also have enough time and brain to calculate, the demon can predict the future of anything. But here comes the paradox......... see if you can spot a contradiction or a flaw and type it in the comment section. Enough of the hard concepts of physics. Even if this was a paradox, meaning something is wrong, I still believe the concept of people's choices in the past influences the 'coincidental' choice you made. What do you guys think? Do you think a coincedent is actually a coincedent?

Sorry for always ranting on about things you all are probably not interested of.

Ps. Another thing about why I don't believe in coincidents is because our brain can't handle and comprehend the super fast calculations that are being made in our brain while making a choice so even if we think that something is a coincedent, that's because your brain can't process all the past choices you made in the past fast enough, causing you to think that it was a coincident.

I want to go shoot some fancy night scenery with my camera but I had no time for it for a long time.

I hope the weather gets better since my tripod is longing for my touch.

And also let us organize a portrait hangout at some point! That would be fun.

Let`s get through the raining season with a smile :)

Take care.

Café recommendation Pt.2

I checked the last post which was asking you to write some cafes you like. Thank you Reiko for recommend me the place, I looked it up on Instagram and the pancakes looks so delicious!! I will go there with my friend soon ;)

And I thought it will be a good idea to share my favorite cafe as well. The place I want to introduce is "dotcom space Tokyo." It placed near Harajuku Station but in the middle of residential area so it's pretty quiet and easy to visit there alone. And it's a semi-basement so the wind and sun coming in are very refreshing.

This cafe is famous for its croffle (croissant + waffle) Have you ever tried it once? You can add ice cream/whipped cream in 100 yen so that you can make your own.

And  I also tried iced green tea latte there, that was so good. Actually, I was in a tea-ceremony club in high school so I am a bit strict about taste of Matcha. But the employee there carefully made Matcha, which is really good at it,  and pour it on a glass to make a beautiful layer of milk and Matcha.

If you have time, please visit:)

I hope your uni life become much more better with a cup of tea/coffee and some sweets!

I see nothing

I apologize if I've ever walked past you without waving or acknowledging your presence. I'm not ignoring you I swear, I just have horrible eyesight and I only see things that are directly in front of me.

So let me tell you a story that happened yesterday where I completely ignored our dictator of the class.

I was just walking back from the 短大 to the nuclear love bomb art in the middle of the school grounds. On the other side of where I was walking near the entrance of the first building, there was a guy waving at somebody. No matter how hard I looked I only saw a blob so I chose to ignore it thinking it wasn't for me, the blob then disappeared into the building. I know we’ve all been there but I wanted to save myself the embarrassment of waving at someone and looking behind me just to realize they were waving at someone else.

Arisa (who is also blind)  was walking beside me and said something along the lines of “it's that shoulder bag, that was ken..”

I soon realized what we had done, we completely ignored ken the dictator waving at us from afar. The sky turned into colors of regret purple and sorrow grey.

I already apologized but I want to apologize again, I'm so sorry to Ken and anyone else I have unintentionally ignored. Please wave whenever you see me I will be waving back to everyone from now on (that is if I see it).

I'm getting new cute glasses soon <3

How is it end→the varmint will end up inside a jellyfish with some nature.

Theme→It wants to say that our society is made up by sacrifices and we must really do something or else only doomsday will be waiting for us.

Craste, M [creator director] (2009)

 Varmints London; Studio AKA

Who?

What is happening?

When?

Where?

Why is this happening?

How does it end?

*Whats the theme?> whats the discussion

I kind of find the story sad and painful. First when i saw the creature(the main character) I thought it represented animal and the theme was about humans  being harmful to animals. Though I realized that the characters were humans and it reflected the current society and the worse scenario that the society could have.

So for who and when, I believe it represent humans, and it could be in the future.

I thought the beginning of the story sets in a period before the industrial revolution because it had no buildings and just nature but the set changed so quickly.

Where could be any country that is well developed like US (I thought it represented such country)

I believe this is happening because of the exhaust gas. the world is being polluted and the varmints have no place to go so the creature made from the plants rescued them.

I believe the world that varmints used to live will eventually collapse or no one would ever be able to live there and the varmints would live inside the creatures peacefully instead.

I suppose the theme of this video is obviously pollution and if we don’t take actions to the ones our society have now, the same thing would happen to us. Only there are no creatures to save us.

Varmints

 Who?

The main characters are all varmints, which is a creature that looks similar to dogs. Some of them are large and some of them are small.

What is happening?

The story starts in a very peaceful world. One of the varmints was sitting on a green glass with a beautiful tree beside him. But all the sudden, gray sky comes over and destructs and pollutes nature. The varmints suffer both mentally and physically and some of them even dies on streets.

When?

It doesn't seem to be too old of a story. I feel like it represents the situation in our recent society with growing industrialization. I would say the sometime in last 50 years.

Where

The story takes place in a mysterious industrialized city where humans doesn't exist. I

Why is this happening?

In this occasion, the varmints are not making their effort to keep the earth clean. Instead, they do whatever they want which causes pollution. It accurately shows the human civilization in a way that people are too worried about themselves and not focusing on how they can contribute to their society.

How does it end?

Tons of jellyfish came flying into the city and brings back the beautiful nature.

What is the theme?

The theme of the story is that people are so self-centered. We are constantly destroying the environment and this story is to make people realize that. Earth in reality is a much better place and we haven't seen it because of the human activities.

Varmints

Who?

The protagonist is the innocent-looking creature. He seems to have such a sweet, pure soul, which is very contradictory to the title, Varmints.

What is happening?

The story begins with the protagonist strolling around in a peaceful, undisturbed world. Soon, it turns into a dark, unsettling place where the animals look physically and mentally malnourished. Their life is becoming a routine, and the look on their faces tells us how drained they are feeling.

When?

The story seems to be a representation of the current situation in our society.

Where?

Though I have previously mentioned that the story is the metaphor of the current world, the location looks too futuristic to be so. Thus, it can be said that it is set in an alternative universe.

Why is this happening?

Because humans are self centered. We seek wealth, fame, and ignore the actual beauty that has been sitting, waiting to be noticed. We are quick to jump to conclusions, and all the ignorance lead us to the ugly society we live in.

How does it end?

After the creature lands on the jellyfish-looking space, the story ends in a way that makes the audience believe that all is well. Yet, that sounds too good to be true. The dark, grey world still exists somewhere out there, and it will be ignorant of us to believe that that world is long gone. It is a representation of how humans like to ignore the filthy side of things, and only bring the spotlight to the glamorous side of life.

What is the theme?

Creativity and beauty is what keeps a man alive. Throughout the story, the protagonist made sure to keep the plant alive. His life depended on this plant, and it was what kept him happy. Towards the end, we can see that the plant gets taken away from him. In this moment, the creature himself also starts to rot, his fur smeared in dirt, eyes watering. The plant's death proved how it was the only thing that kept him sane, and its disappearance made him look just as depressed as everybody else. This particular scene reminded me of the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. I have never read this book, yet it was introduced to me by one of our classmates during the book report discussion. It sounds very much like the ending of the novel, where the young beautiful man turns into an old man with a dirty heart.

Hobby part 2

It may be surprising but I actually like cooking.(Not that im good at it though) When I was in New Zealand, there was literally nothing to do after school except for hanging out with friends. No amusment parks, no arcades(game centers), literally nothing, so I had heaps of time to spare. Also New Zealand's education is super behind compared with asian countries so I got merits(kind of like getting 70-90点 in Japan) and achieved(like the 平均点) without studying at all. (Might share my New Zealand grades in the future but don't keep your hopes up) So I started to cook using that time. During that era, my forte was making the infamous New Zealand-Australian sauage rolls. The sad thing about coming to Japan was how the houses, especially the kitchen were super tiny. I can't make things like these as I need a lot of room to make it. Also I stopped cooking last year as I was a 受験生 so I had to study during my free times. Now I suck at cooking because of that one year blank. I was studying different types of pastas when I came to Japan as it dosen't take much room to prepare and is relatively easy to make.
I was good at making arrabiatas but a few weeks ago when I made arrabiata, it tasted horrible. So now I am re-studying cooking in general. Things like what salt and pepper does into a dish. Hope I can cook like I was in New Zealand by the end of the year.

Varmints

Who- The main character was a dog like creature(kinda looked like snoopy) otherwise known as a varmint.

What- At the start the little creature was enjoying the nature in peace until a mass horde of varmints, who all looked plain and looked like robots with no minds, bring in highly technological civilization which also brought the destruction of nature. Throughout the story, the protagonist tries to prevent the eradication of nature by raising plants in its house in the monotonous city.

When- I think it was during the industrial revolution in England. If I remembered properly, there were lines of varmints going somewhere to do something and the small weak varmints were falling onto the ground. This scene reminded me of the story of how a lot of little kids were forced to work in mines where large adults couldnt fit in during the industrial revolution period .

Where- an imaginary fictional world that resemble the planet earth.

Why- The varmints got carried away into making their civilzation better and did not look at the consequences of their actions causing the eradication of nature. This is kind of ironic because this can also be the same as the human civilization. We people seem to not care about anything except for ourselves so a lot of environmental conflicts have been made and probably will be one of the possible reasons for the extinction of humanity.

How does it end- The short film ends as the varmints are abducted(?) by a jellyfish looking creature.

Theme- I've read something that says something like this "civilizations are held up the sacrifices of the people" This is very true but I think that civilization is also supported by all the resources mother nature gave to us. So the theme is once the balance between nature and mankind is broken, the civilization will come to an end.

cooking

I live alone and I want to save money so I often cook my meals. I mostly cook a week worth of food on Monday mornings. Today I tried to cook gapao rice. While I was cooking it started to turn into a soap. I had this happen before when I was making そぼろ looking at the same app. This time I reduced the spices but it still happened. I tried to evaporate the extra soapy part but it wasn't going well so I finally used a colander. At the end it kinda turned into a 麻婆豆腐. But it still tasted good.

Craste, M.(2008). Varmints.

 Varmints Assignment

Who:

A varmint, having a dog-like demeanor, enjoys nature in peace. However, it gets distracted by a mass of varmints without individuality, pulling up skyscrapers with innumerable strings. Eventually, nature gets infiltrated by the “collectivist” society, seemingly dull, indifferent, and nihilistic.

What is happening:

As the varmint gets interrupted by other varmints en masse, a colorless civilization represses the varmint enjoying nature in harmony. Nature itself loses its colorfulness and vitality due to the violent advancement of an industrial, totalitarian, and nihilistic society.

As the nihilistic society is about to dominate, the varmint manages to save a branch of a tree and is eventually forced to accustom itself to an industrialized system. The varmint shared a part of the branch as a way to show courtesy to the neighbor, and she (the neighbor) appreciated the generosity. One night, some lights were emitted by the branch of the tree the varmint takes fondly care of. The green-white colored lights apparently grow incrementally. Then it follows with a scene where the varmint returns to the tree he tried to protect from the destructive forces of industrial nihilism. The varmint takes a nap below the tree and the tree eventually gets revivified to a great degree as it breeds new white petals and dandelions.

The climax of the story occurs as the white-greenish spherical lights transform into floating jellyfish-like natural utopian universes, devouring the nihilistic industrial civilization. Symbolically speaking, it seems as if Mother Nature devoured the civilization which tried to devour Mother Nature itself. When the varmint attempts to give back the branch to the “jellyfishes” the worthy branch of tree, one of the floating “jellyfishes” picked it up along with the varmint. As the varmint wakes up, it finds itself in a natural field, separated from the industrial civilization. Then, the final scene ends with a “rain” of dandelions.

In the final analysis, nature devoured civilization and took back what belongs to it.

When:

There prevails a dualism between nostalgic natural paradise and a contemporary/futuristic societal system.

Where:

The animation takes place in a field of dandelions. Although civilization advances incessantly, the fact that the location was once entirely natural does not change.

“There” is therefore the place where the varmint belongs. Nature.

Why is this happening:

Before delving deeper into the explanation, I shall begin with some clarifications of symbolisms.  The dandelions, which appear both in the beginning and at the end of the story, signify the return of life, the rebirth of growth. Rejuvenation and redemption should be pertinent concepts to the story, for nature gets revivified by nature itself.

With allusion to jellyfishes, they could signify flow, survival, instinct, movement, and simplicity. Both elements suggest that nature thrives at any cost, no matter how advanced a civilization is.

How does it end:

The scenery ends with the triumph of nature; there is a glorious “rain” of dandelions and harmonious natural “worlds” within floating jellyfish-like lights are built, in which varmints can thrive in a natural environment pertinent to their original nature.

The story can be regarded as a comedy. Nature thrives, whereas the nihilistic industrial society collapses.

What is the theme:

VARMINTS by Marc Craste (2008) deals with the dualistic conflict between nature and civilization. Nature, which apparently gets devoured by civilization, takes revenge and retrieves that which belongs to nature. The moral is that Mother Nature is not to be challenged, even by human intelligence.

Varmints (2008)

 Who?

A small creature that has floppy ears, a body like a monkey and colored like a panda that acts like a human.

What is happening?

The varmint was living in the middle of nature that was suddenly destroyed by the arrival of a grey, high rise city. The pollution gets worse and the varmints begin developing sickness and some even drop dead in the street.

When?

I think it is a reflection of the industrial revolution. So, I think it was set in the 19th or  20th century.

Where?

In a mythical world where the varmints act like the humans.

Why is this happening?

The varmints were too focused on the economy that they forgot how important it was to take care of nature.

How does it end?

A jellyfish like nature takes the varmints away from the polluted city.

What is the theme?

Nature cannot be dominated but it also cannot fully recover from the damage that people have given it.

Vroom vroom pt.2

I had to vroom vroom yesterday and I have a story!

Okay so update I still drive up on curbs and right now I'm practicing how to turn in narrow roads and S and Z-shaped roads. It is currently my 3d time redoing this particular lesson and I am sick of it because they tell me I'm good and I'm clearly not >:(

Anyway, I had yesterday's instructor for the first time and when he called my name I couldn't hear it at first because he practically whispered my name compared to all the other instructors calling out people's names. He was a little pissed about that I think and he was a lil grumpy until we sat down and I started talking about how my Japanese isn't so great and I might ask a lot of stuff because I used to live in America my whole life. I kid you not this guy flips his mood a whole 180 and starts saying he loves America and he watches  American movies and tv series all the time because he's a HUGE fan.

Bros I needed this guy to be nice to me or else I would have driven on the curbs again from being nervous, so I went along with it. I completely lied to this man and said I was also a HUGE fan of American movies and tv shows. Okay maybe not a lie but I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm a HUGE fan ya know???  I would say I watch a handful of movies a year and this guy was saying he watches full-on seasons of an hour show and finishes them in a few days of a week. At this point my hands were sweaty not from getting criticism for my horrible driving but because I just lied to my instructor so he would be nice to me.

We talk about what he likes and he said Stanger things first which saved my lying butt because I actually watched it last year. (late I know) he was talking about watching season 4 and I was like I haven't gotten to it yet hehehehe and he completely ignored me and started talking about breaking bad which I haven't seen...yet. (plz no slander) We also talked about zombie movies/tv shows and the guy didn't like the walking dead... like come on it's iconic at least watch until season 3 or 5.

Then we moved on to actors and I start to feel the beads of sweat trickling down my neck because, I'm so sorry but I have no clue about famous celebrities or actors/actresses. Yo he got so suspicious and asked me if I really liked movies because I said I didn't know his favorite actor, I was about to swerve and crash the whole car out of embarrassment. I said as an apology I will watch a movie his favorite actor is in so now I have to watch "Kick Ass" because what if I get him next time as my instructor :,)

Oh and I still got a lot of criticism in between these conversations so my plan backfired on me, it just made me be 2x more nervous than always. We love self-sabotage <3 I'm going to be redoing S and Z roads again 4th-time ahahahahahah

Varmints

 Who

There were small varmints who were seen in the green-covered plains and then slightly larger varmints who dragged in the grey, tall, and very unnatural buildings that destroyed the green plains.

What is happening

The varmint that we follow in the story manages to secure a branch from a tree before it dissolves into grey dust in front of them. The larger varmints finish dragging in the dark eerie city and start to work in an environment where everyone seems sick and dirty. The main little varmint adapts to its new surrounding but still holds on to his longing for its lush green past. He starts to take care of the branch he secured and upon one of his trips to fetch water for his plant he sees green orbs all over the city, that start to grow every passing day. Each day the larger varmints start to get more and more ill and eventually his own plant starts to wilt. A doomsday comes and all the large varmints start to collapse, the sky turns red and the buildings start to crumble. This was due to The orbs eventually growing so big it actually becomes an organism that floats, has tentacles and saves the small varmints that give them a new home representing the old green plains they used to live in.

When

It seems like the current situation going on in our society now so I would say it is happening in the near future.

Where

It first takes place on grassy plains then in an industrialized gray city.

Why is this happening

The larger varmints brought in this toxic environment and only the small varmints who got their homes taken away get salvation because the one varmint tried to bring the green environment back.

How does it end

It ends with the giant green orb jellyfish floating away from the eerie city and saving the small varmints, consuming them into their body that looks like the old green plains they used to live on. leaving behind the larger varmints and the city it destroyed.

Theme

The theme in this story is the reality of destroying our environment and homes to animals.

The origin of my name

Not surprisingly, I often get asked by people "Does your name come from Santa Claus?

To give you the most disappointing answer, "No"😂

And unfortunately my birthday is neither December 24th nor 25th.

So, here is how my name came from.

When you write Santa in kanji it's 三太. Both my dad and my grandfather have kanji 三 in their names and that's why my parents wanted to have 三 in my name as well. They have 三 as the second letter of their names so they decided my name would be 三○.

三 has 3 meanings to it. Those are "will", "passion", and "knowledge".

太 has the meaning of hoping to grow up healthily.

I need to apologize in advance that I wouldn't be going to your houses to give out Christmas presents.......🙏

Varmints, Mark Craste (2008)

At the beginning of the animation, we see numerous small-looking 'varmints' frolicking around the meadow, and enjoying the lush green blanket of grass while picking up tufts of dandelions and such. Then, as the story progressed, we see larger varmints drag smog and smoke with them while roping in tall, grey buildings that soon destroy the vast meadow around them. Seeing this happen before its eyes, the varmint we follow throughout the story snaps a branch off of the tree.

Time passes by and we see the varmint slowly assimilate in the dark, grey city. The industrialized metropolis that the creatures lived in looked no different from our buildings and cities, so it may be in the present time or even in the near future. Later, glowing blobs of organisms latch onto buildings and slowly grow to an immense size. The bigger they grew, more and more of the varmints fell ill. The plant that the varmint had been growing also slowly wilted away.

Then, the story ends with the glowing organisms evolving into jellyfishes. These jellyfishes would hover and float above the skyscrapers, reaching out to take the little varmints away from the corroding vity. The main character rushes up to the rooftop to escape, and then--at last, was taken to a haven of green. Reunited with the sound of bees, his fellow varmints, and the meadow he had always longed for.

I believe this animation is an allegory for urbanization and societal collapse, and though it represents hope it still heavily illustrates gradual destruction of nature. This also represents the situation of many wild animals whose habitats have been destroyed for the sake of humanity's advancement. Furthermore, there also seemed to be a sense of segregation in a few scenes (eg. the city was 'dragged' into the meadow by bigger and more unseemly varmints, all of the varmints that were picked up by the jellyfish were small).

While the ending showed varmints rehabilitated from the polluted metropolis, this ending barely describes the reality of our world. It is hopeful, ideal, and the 'happy ending'. But unlike these varmints who have found hope and a flourishing future in the bellies of these jellyfishes, we have no other shelter beyond Earth and we are the only ones who can save ourselves from the destruction we have ultimately caused.

Metal-Gh0rlblogger-Coming of Age Playlist (?!)

Hey s̷̨̯̀͗̒̏̏͠u̷̲̱͉̣͠ͅp̸̔̌̋̕͜è̷̥̽́̒̈͝r̵̛̜̫̖̟̟̉̀̀ͅs̵̢̧̙̫͉͔̺͗̅̑͆̽͝t̸͕̥̞͌̒͌͊̊̀͝ă̵̖̜̟̼̖̼̪̽̃́ŗ̴̛͍̻̩͙̗̇̾̂ 🐻,

So, I saw a couple of you post your favorite artists and a couple of their songs here. And because nothing entirely interesting has happened in the past week--besides tie thrifting, drinking an absurd amount of almond milk, and more assignments--I will be slamming and exposing my music taste today.

First of all, I enjoy rock-metal music. It's pretty hard to recommend this genre to people since it's... it's very Scream-core, y'know? But Bring Me The Horizon is my jam, bro. Their 2020 album, Post Human: Survival Horror, is my most-streamed album of theirs at the moment. But I really enjoy their other songs, as well. Like, Mantra and Alligator Blood. If it's your first time listening to rock-metal, I really recommend listening to their amo album first. I got into BMTH thanks to my band back in high school, we would play Shadow Moses and other songs from the Sempiternal album, and I just ended up getting lost in listening to more of their songs.

Next up in the playlist is an artist plucked out of my friend's playlist: Lana Del Rey. I've been getting really into these artists lately and I think Lana has been dominating my Spotify mixes for a while now. Songs like Young and Beautiful, Diet Mountain Dew, Video Games, Art Deco, and This Is What Makes Us Girl are what come to mind first. Besides Lana, I've been listening to more and more of Lorde again, and Writer in the Dark might be my favorite song of hers.

And finally, my coming-of-age aesthetic includes blasting Wallows, Coin, Dayglow, and Saint Motel. This is the playlist to delude yourself into thinking you're the main character or the funny side character. It's the 'running down the empty suburbia at night with your friends' energy. It's the 'driving into a tunnel with the windows down and your friend won't pass you aux' vibe. It's youth and contagious laughter sewn into the beat of the music. It's the light push on your back that sets you off to a sprint. It's everything you will never experience--until you do.

Any cafe Recommendation, please??

 Hey, I just wanted to ask quickly. My friend in Sagamihara Campus of AGU will come to Aoyama Campus next week. And she asked me to recommend some of the places to have a coffee. I usually use Shibuya Station and have a lunch there, so I'm so poor about that ;;

If you know some, please tell me as possible as you can!

(I already recommended Ralph's and lohasbeanscoffee though...)

Varmints

Who: The protagonist in this animation is the varmint.

What is happening: Polluted huge city destroyed the nature and greens and people started to live in the small apartment where they assigned. A small branch which the varmint keeps before the destruction shows the only nature in this animation.

When: It happened in far but near future, when other creatures started to live in small apartments and work with.

Where: Dark city where the rubbish and rubble because of deforestation still remain.

Why is this happening: It happened when other creatures brought a polluted city in where greens were beautiful, but it was destroyed by it.

How does it end: There were some jellyfishes which helps creatures to escape from the dark city. One of them took him into the inside of the cover and that was the place where the varmint used to draw and take a nap. Happily he found the friend who became close in the city there.

What is the theme: Theme for this animation is destroying the environment. I thought what people are doing to eco-systems now are similar to what happened in the animation. The animation wants us to think about what can we do to protect and conserve the nature.

Varmints

Craste, M. [Creator, director] (2009)
Varmints. London: Studio AKA.

Who: The varmint, supposedly a male from the range of its growls.

What is happening: A world that was once filled with a meadow is turned into a city that pollutes. The main varmint carries a single twig from a tree he failed to save as a hole, and he grows it in a small pot. It is the only source of nature in the gray city.

When: The whole deforestation occurred at the beginning, right as the varmint is taking a nap.

Where: In a bright meadow adorned with bees and dandelions to a dark city with waste and soot all around.

Why is this happening: The whole deforestation is happening because the rats carried a city to the meadow the varmint lived in, killing all life and burying it under the cold concrete.

How does it end: It ends with a monster in the shape of a jellyfish carries the varmint and its plant along with the same species of varmints found in the beginning of the video. The varmint is sheltered with its friends inside the jellyfish that creates a whole meadow.

Nap pt2

About a week ago, I posted a blog where I mentioned me falling asleep during one of the IT practice sessions. Well... surprise, surprise, it happened again. Except this time it was worse, because I fell asleep DURING THE TEST. Yes, you read that right. I fell asleep mid exam. I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to take it on the day where I had gotten three hours of sleep in the first place. I was well aware it was bound to happen.

I do need to publicly apologize to the person sitting behind me, though. My head kept banging on their monitor, and it made a creaking sound every single time. I really hope they passed the test despite me interrupting every ten seconds.

I'm not sure if I've made it obvious, but I failed the test. As we all know, we can retake the tests as many times as we want, so I wasn't too concerned about it. I got 81% though! That's pretty good for a first timer. It was also a 60 minute test, unlike the others that only take 10 minutes. Alright, I should stop because at this point I'm just coming up with excuses.

On a positive note, there was no fire alarm this time. That was good.

Morning Jazz Poetry

Happy Wednesday!

Today I woke up at 6 which is a very rare event as far as I am concerned.

I forgot my chronotype, but nothing is more refreshing than waking up early in the morning.

What else, jazz.. uhh..

And coffee! What a tremendous combination.

Paradisal to say the least.

To the charming Italian coffee I am referring to

Waiting for your whisper, Moka

Wandering through the unknown melodies

Longing for that arabica again

Oh Bialetti, signor Bialetti,

Whence flourishes that ephemeral flavor

that I'll never be able to rejoice it again

Good night.

My playlist

Because I’ve seen many people’s playlist, I thought why not share my own playlist too so I’ll write about them.

Recently I’m kind of into Maroon 5 and I’m just repeating particular songs again and again. I’m the type of person that listens to it until i get bored.(although it’s very rare that a get bored quickly and usually I listen to the same song for  3 straight months.)

Most of them are from the album Overexposed and V and if I were to pick my favorite song it will certainly be Payphone ft. Wiz Khalifa, The man who never lied and Maps. I think payphone is pretty popular so even you’re not so familiar with Maroon 5 you might heard of it before.

I also like Stereo heart by Gym Class Heroes, ft. Adam Levine. I suppose I really enjoy listening to Adams’s voice.

When I generally want do my assignment leisurely, I watch a movie but one of friends suggested  to do my homework while listening to music so i could focus more on my assignment. I was convinced by that and I now listen to music while studying so I’d be happy if you could give me some musical recommendations.

Good night.
