Metal-Gh0rlblogger-Coming of Age Playlist (?!)

Hey s̷̨̯̀͗̒̏̏͠u̷̲̱͉̣͠ͅp̸̔̌̋̕͜è̷̥̽́̒̈͝r̵̛̜̫̖̟̟̉̀̀ͅs̵̢̧̙̫͉͔̺͗̅̑͆̽͝t̸͕̥̞͌̒͌͊̊̀͝ă̵̖̜̟̼̖̼̪̽̃́ŗ̴̛͍̻̩͙̗̇̾̂ 🐻,

So, I saw a couple of you post your favorite artists and a couple of their songs here. And because nothing entirely interesting has happened in the past week--besides tie thrifting, drinking an absurd amount of almond milk, and more assignments--I will be slamming and exposing my music taste today.

First of all, I enjoy rock-metal music. It's pretty hard to recommend this genre to people since it's... it's very Scream-core, y'know? But Bring Me The Horizon is my jam, bro. Their 2020 album, Post Human: Survival Horror, is my most-streamed album of theirs at the moment. But I really enjoy their other songs, as well. Like, Mantra and Alligator Blood. If it's your first time listening to rock-metal, I really recommend listening to their amo album first. I got into BMTH thanks to my band back in high school, we would play Shadow Moses and other songs from the Sempiternal album, and I just ended up getting lost in listening to more of their songs.

Next up in the playlist is an artist plucked out of my friend's playlist: Lana Del Rey. I've been getting really into these artists lately and I think Lana has been dominating my Spotify mixes for a while now. Songs like Young and BeautifulDiet Mountain Dew, Video Games, Art Deco, and This Is What Makes Us Girl are what come to mind first. Besides Lana, I've been listening to more and more of Lorde again, and Writer in the Dark might be my favorite song of hers.

And finally, my coming-of-age aesthetic includes blasting Wallows, Coin, Dayglow, and Saint Motel. This is the playlist to delude yourself into thinking you're the main character or the funny side character. It's the 'running down the empty suburbia at night with your friends' energy. It's the 'driving into a tunnel with the windows down and your friend won't pass you aux' vibe. It's youth and contagious laughter sewn into the beat of the music. It's the light push on your back that sets you off to a sprint. It's everything you will never experience--until you do.
