The varmint was living in the middle of nature that was suddenly destroyed by the arrival of a grey, high rise city. The pollution gets worse and the varmints begin developing sickness and some even drop dead in the street.
When?
I think it is a reflection of the industrial revolution. So, I think it was set in the 19th or 20th century.

In a mythical world where the varmints act like the humans.
Why is this happening?
The varmints were too focused on the economy that they forgot how important it was to take care of nature.
How does it end?
A jellyfish like nature takes the varmints away from the polluted city.
What is the theme?
Nature cannot be dominated but it also cannot fully recover from the damage that people have given it.
