She was 100 years old.

2. Why did Asayo Murakami emigrate to Canada?

She emigrated because after the kanto earthquake, her husband and children left and she went to get married as a picture bride. A picture bride is a marriage done by selecting brides using only photographs and family recommendations. It took place in the early 20th century. 

3. What secret did Linda discover about her grandmother, Asayo Murakami?

Asayo had to leave her two children behind in Japan when she moved to Canada.

 

4. What are some good things about obaachan?

She was talented at playing violin and planting flowers. She had a strong heart as well.

5. What makes it seem that Asayo Murakami was not an ideal parent?

She left her children at home making them do their own chores even though they were still small. During that time, Asayo was going out to town nearly everyday to meet her friends.

6. What is the most wonderful, touching scene in the film?

When Obachan and Chieko were able to meet again after 75 years since they separated.

7. If you were to make a film about a family member, who would you choose and why?

I would choose my father because I respect him a lot and want to know what kind of child he was, how he grew up, what struggles he faced and how he overcame all those until now.
