The lost thing

setting: located in a dull city. The time period being maybe in the past for us because of how the t.v.  looked, the box type with the antennas. Also in the past for the boy as well because he's reflecting back.

conflict: The boy finds a lost thing and he wants to help its way find a way to get back to where it came from or find somewhere the lost thing can stay.

climax: When the boy found and saw where the lost thing belonged, and when the lost thing went back home/where it seemed to belong.

symbol: The lost thing itself was the symbol, I thought maybe it represented adolescence/childhood, or uniqueness.

Adolescence/childhood because the lost thing was like a kid. Some examples are how it was lost and in the beginning wanted to play with the ball, and how it didn't communicate very well.

It could also be a symbol of uniqueness. The lost thing was very colorful and had praying mantis claws with bells, no one else in the film did. All the surrounding people looked the same and were bland while the lost thing and where it belonged near the end looked different from one another and every other Thing was unique in size and color.

irony: the lost thing was so big and red, in other words very obvious to spot, yet no one seemed to notice it.

theme: It kind of reminded me of the mermaid video not to the same extent but how the adults are depicted in a way where they don't understand the child. The theme I think is how when we get older we are told to throw away our creativity and uniqueness to fit in. Like the boy in the end where he says he sees it sometimes but it doesn't show him trying to help it. The boy, now grown up says he has maybe stopped noticing them while looking away from another lost thing and process to ride the busses that all look the same and bland  indicating he's on board with all the other adults or he's become an adult who is starting to lose his creativity and eye for uniqueness.
