Self-evaluation (?)

Hi, everyone.  This is Shinnosuke.
I have almost nothing to write about, so I have made up my mind and this time, I changed my blog style.  Now, I will do self-evaluation.

Questions and Answers for Self-evaluation
What's your motto or goal for your university life?  Have you achieved it yet?
My motto is "Four Years Dedicated to English Learning," and my goal is to improve my English and be a fluent speaker of English.  No, not yet.  It's natural because my goal can be achieved through entire my university life.
Besides studying, do you do any activities?  What are they?
This question is one that strikes my weak points, for I do not belong to any club.  However, I have done one volunteer activity at Open Campus of AGU held during summer vacation.  It was great experience for me, with an opportunity to communicate frequently with different age groups of visitors.
How is the relationship with your friends going?
It is so-so.  I'm not good at making a lot of friends, but I have significant friends who help me or give me advice.  In particular, IE members are very significant for me.  Whenever I go into the IE classrooms where other members are, I feel "This is a family."  For me, IE classes, which we have four times a week are my home, and my home, where I live by myself and other classes are my university life.  It's not a lie.  I really think so!

Thank you.

The Look

First, I thank Dr. Armstrong for telling us how to comment.
Today, I would like to write about 7 literary terms of The Look (IE Book page 22).

Setting: on Third Avenue, near the park, at summer night
Point of View: 3rd person
Conflict: There is a conflict between her and loneliness.  She felt so lonely and sorry for herself that she hardly noticed the smell of the flowers.
Climax: Their eyes met as he passed.
Symbols: Ugly, gun-metal grey shows loneliness she was feeling.  And his action of looking back at her shows his likeness to her.
Irony: He hit a telephone pole.
Theme: Don't do two things at the same time.  Consider well before acting.

Logorama

I’m going to write about “Logorama.”

In this movie, a lot of logos were seen and each of them had a unique appearance which attracted our attention quite a lot. Also, it is said that we about 80% of information from sight. So I felt that our eyes play a really important role in our life.

After watching this movie, I thought it was very violent. McDonald was described as a terrible criminal. He fired a rifle, destroyed the city, and frightened many people. Perhaps it showed our shortcoming. That is, we sometimes ignore or hurt others in order to realize our hope.

At the end of the movie, a big earthquake occurred and almost everything collapsed and was washed away. I think it describes the power of nature, which is so strong that it is very difficult for us to resist. Recently we have had a lot of disaster such as 3.11 earthquake and heavy rain in Hiroshima. So I strongly felt so.

Although I don’t know whether my idea is right or wrong, this is what I thought.

Last Practice

Hi! This is Yu. It was the last practice for club before Aoyama festival  today. As you know, I belong to the baton part of wind orchestra and baton twirling club. We have practiced hard for Aoyama festival. So I'm looking forward to performing.  We are going to perform at the courtyard stage. We will parade along with Aoyama street. We will also dance before AAA's live. I'm going to be happy if you come to see us!!

Disney Sea

Hi, let me write about last Monday. I went to Disney Sea with my friends at Starbucks. Actually, it was first time to visit Disney Sea in my life! First of all, I was very surprised at the size of that. And it was arranged to Halloween version. It was so cute and I took a lot of picture.
Actually I don't like thrill ride very much. I hate that! However, I had to ride that...Tower of Terror! Until just before we rode that, I don't want to ride. As I expected, Tower of Terror was so terrible, and scary but a little fun.
Anyway the day was so exciting and I had very good time.

Hey, let’s go to Disney land together in Christmas season! It will be definitely enjoyableJ

Wonderful School Festivals

On Saturday, I went to two school festivals. Both of them were very wonderful.

First, I went to school festival of Joshibi University of Art and Design. My friend goes to there so we saw the sights of school festival together. Campus is surrounded by nature and atmosphere is nice. Many works such as paintings, models of houses and other interesting things were displayed. Work of my friend was also displayed and I was attracted to it. Many stalls were set on campus and I ate fried cheese. It was delicious. There were flea markets, too. We wanted to see them but we didn’t have enough time because we planned to go to another university. But though there was a little time, we could enjoy it. After that, we moved to another university.

Second one was that of Musashino Art University. I was surprised to an area of the campus. It was very large and it was hard to look. The theme was a circus so there was the nice decoration related to circus. I felt as if I came to an amusement park. There were many stalls and flea markets. The designs of stalls were very wonderful. Also, many works were displayed. Each work was nice and interesting. I thought these works reflected individuality of artists. We could enjoy them. I thought I couldn’t create such works.

It was first time for me to go to school festivals of art universities. I could enjoy many arts and I want to go again. I think these school festivals are good opportunities to feel arts.

Here's How to Comment

To Miwa and Shinnosuke (and others)

The way to comment on a post is just like this. Make a new post and direct it to people by name. The usual individual post "Comment" field has been disabled because comments always became "buried" and no one read them. This way, all discussion is right on the site and easy to access and read. Keep blogging on!

Logorama

Good afternoon. I'm gonna write about logorama but to tell the truth I didn't understand what the drama meant though I watched again and again. Therefore I searched on internet about the drama but many people have different ideas and all of those are understandable.
According to some site, director chose the logos from uncountable numbers of logos and this choice was not rashly one. Every characters have their own meanings. So I don't think the director make Donald villain just because he don't like McDonald.
Or maybe this is just being too much suspicious. Is there any right answers about the interpretation of the drama? I'm eager to know.

Yokohama

Today I went to Yokohama with my friends and one of my juniors in the brass band of my high school. The junior is Korean and he won admission into the university in Korea and is going to enter there. So we decided to gather to congratulate him.

First, we went to karaoke. We made a reservation at 8:30 because the charge was only 1,000 yen for each person in the morning and one of my friends had to go to circle in the evening.

The design of the room we were singing in was very cute.

I wonder why we, four men, were offered this room.

We sang for about four hours and enjoyed it a lot, but we were really tired and felt hot because we sang very loudly.

When we finished karaoke, it was already afternoon. So we had lunch at Hamatora, a ramen shop.

The ramen had a large quantity and it was delicious. We were very satisfied. I recommend that you go there when you come to Yokohama station.

After lunch, we went home.

We could fully enjoy this day, and I hope my junior will enjoy his life in the university.

logorama

Today I'll write about logorama. I enjoyed this movie very much because I hadn't seen such a movie.

You can see a lot of logos in the movie. I was surprised that there were so many logos in the world.

I think that the producer of it wanted  to show us that there were many companies all over the world and how each company compete.

Donald McDonald was so terrible and I worried  that an image of  McDonald's became bad.

To Miwa

After reading what you wrote, I sought the button for leaving comments and for "+1," but I couldn't.
So I seached for information about it.
Some websites say that to share other friends' blog or push the button for "+1," you are required to have a profile of "Google+."
Is my information right?
If not, I appologize...
I'm not sure.

talk show

Last sunday, I went to a talk show of Kento Yamazaki. It was held at Otsuma Women University's school festival. My friend was there and I was able to meet her.She used to have a black hair but now her hair is very bright☆

Yamazaki Kento was very awesome. We were able to see him in the second row. When we wave our hand to him, he did it to us as also. There was a lottery and people who had won can get his autograph. It was envious♡

After the talk show, we went back to Omototesando and ate hamburger and green smoothie.Smoothie is my trend.
And we did window shopping and sang for 2 hours.I had a very meaningful weekend...last week!lol

The Saturday

Today I had lunch with Shiori at the starbucks coffee where Miyui works. we stayed there until Miyui finished her job with drinking latte and its taste was so good.  Since there were left only short time when Miyui came to us, we couldn't talk enough...but I was happy to be able to confirm that Miyui was already fine!
On my way home, I got off the train at the station which was three stops before the one I usually get off and walked along with the river while listening to music.  The weather was perfect for me and the view from there reminded me of my high school days. I could refresh myself and enjoy the solitary walk very much. I thought that it was important for me to be alone some time.
Since I usually work at part-time job on Saturday, today was rare and I felt that this was my ideal Saturday!

TSUKIJI

Today, I visited Tsukiji with my clubmates for nice weekend. Recently, because of the toght schedule of my ESS activivty, I could not have enogh chance to spend a free day even on holidays. So it was very precious one for me. Firstly, we went to the Tamagoyaki shop and eat the most delicious Tamagoyaki in Japan. It as amazing. The taste is simple one, but I like such symple tasting. And next, we ate Kaisendon in the famous shop. I love Tuna, so I ate Magurodon.

Thanks to those two kinds of delicious food, I storeed enough energy to survive my tight schedule for next week.

Logorama

Today, I'm going to write about the short story 'Logorama'. When I watched this video, to be honest, I was very surprised at this vodeo because all logos are very familiar with my daily life and in this short story, such logos or characters are uniqely designed. However, not all logos are positively designed. For example, McDonal's plays the villan and Michelin plays police. In this story, Michelin try to arrest McDnal's because he was stealing the energy resauce from people. In the middle of the story, on the way to chasing, suddenly big earth quake occur and the city itself collapses. Then, I think it shows the irony of our consumption sociaty. The city is filled with many kinds of logos and such situation implys us that there is a possibility that it will collapse. So I thought that in such short story, there is a impportant irony of our today's society.

nice weekend

Today, I went to Omotesando with Miwa to see Miyui workind at Starbacks. Though she had a could yesterday, she smiled and welcomed us. I was so happy to see her lovely face.

Miwa is one of my best friends at Aoyama Gakuin University. She is necessary for me uo spend my daily life. I could have a special
time with them.
Tomorrow, I will participate in the discussion game. It makes me very nervous. However, I am relaxing now because they cheer up me. Thank you, Miyui and Miwa.:-)

my special day

October 22 was my birthday.
Many people around me celebrated me. They gave me underpants, powder to change the hair color, a large amount of sweets, earrings and letters. I ate three cakes in a day. This birthday was my best birthday in my life.

LOGORAMA

The story was very simple.
Donald, the robber of this story tries to run away from the police. In the process of that, one of the two boys who were forced to drive out from the zoo was taken as a hostage in a hamburger shop. After that, an earthquake happened and all the buildings in the town starts to collapse. From beneath the crack in the ground caused by the earthquake, oil started to overflowed and at the end it deposited the whole town.
I was very interested in this movie especially the part that huge amounts of logos were used. There were many characters that I know but more than that that I don't know. I watched this movie for three times but every time it was a pleasure that I could find many new characters that I didn't notice last time. This movie has a very high quality of technology of the animation.I think the creater of this movie  wanted to notice us how the technology of the animation is developed and also that any tiny thing may lead to a huge happening.

WE ARE THE WINNER!!!!

Last sunday, I took part in the futsal tournament with my old friend. They are my junior high
school's friends and some of them were the teammate when I was member of elementary school's soccer team. Additionally, a special helper who came from Colombia joined my team! He is absolutely good player and he performed imaginative play. This is the first time to take part in the tournament with these guys. So I felt concern cause I haven't played with these mates for 7 years. However, the concern was needless. We could understand what we wanted to play and we performed amazing combination!! It was awesome time like I slipped back in time! Consequently, our team yon the all games and became the champion!!! We got the nice and cool game shirt!! After 3 weeks, we have next gamesand Im looking forward to them!!

I watched the movie!

I'm so sorry to be late again.

I watched "Rurounikenshin the legend ends" with Ayaka this Wednesday. Though I have not read the original story, I love this movie.
The main character Kenshin is the swordsman who had been a legendary murder. But actually  he is so kind and always eager for the peace. He promise not to kill people anymore and struggle for the peaceful world without killing his enemies.
Its dynamic and speedy action is strong impression to all the audience. They are so cool and I am absorbed in them, especially Kenshin. He burdens himself with the great sin of murder, so I feel sadness even from his action.
This story is not only cool. It describe the value of life, many kinds of love, weakness of the human and criticism of the authority. For example, Kenshin fells the love of his teacher, his friend, or perhaps his girl. Though he is so good swordsman, he cannot beaten his enemy without their loves. It makes him stronger. On the other hand, his enemies seem to forget or lost the real love and they cannot think other things except their title or power. It symbolizes the importance of the love.
I don't think about the love carefully every day. But it is certainly necessary for us to live this stressful life. I believe that I wouldn't want to live if no one loved me! Though it might be natural thing, my heart was warmed by the character's consideration for Kenshin and it gave me the chance to rethink about the love.
I want you to watch this movie if you have not yet watched it!!

About LOGORAMA!!

When I watched this video, I was surprised to know that there are many logos in the world. Each logo has an each characteristic so I think logo is important for business to represent itself and attract its consumers.

In this video, there is a battle of logo. Also, there is a scene in which two logos are escaping together. So, I suppose this video describes competition and cooperation among businesses. I think producer wants to tell us about this and wants us to know difficulty and pleasure of working.

Also, after watching this video, I noticed that our life is supported by various businesses. I suppose thanks to existence of businesses, many things in our life such as clothes and computers are created and these things play important roles. So, I realized we should also support many businesses.

I think this video is effective way to make people have an interest in businesses. I hadn’t watched such video before but I think it is novel and interesting video. I also think using logos to produce video is a new idea so I suppose this video will attract interests of people.

logorama

Today I would like to think about "logorama".

The characters in this movie is made by countless logos of the companies. McDonald's plans the terrorism and the police struggle with him. Then, the town was hit by the large earthquake suddenly and the town sink in the sea.

I think this story represents the selfish behavior of the companies. They makes effort for their benefit, and they sometimes forget to consider consumers and environment. It is dangerous situation. For example, I have heard that McDonald's abuses the trees of tropical rain forest in Amazon to make the fence of the cattle. It also use a lot of resources for the package. In addition, it used bad chicken. It is so dangerous for us.

So,I believe  this video warn society that company starts to think only their benefits. This is so important warning for us. We have to be careful about this problem and stop the selfish behavior.

logorama

I enjoyed watching this animation as fiction. Butthink this animation describe real present world because there are too many shops, brand, and each of them has original logo. Since I don’t care for these logos consciously in daily life, this animation surprised me. I think the creator of this maybe want us to notice the confused and chaos world. To tell the truth, I often feel this society is too noisy because there are always BGM on the TV and some noses or music in the city and sometime I’m irritated. Then I think this animation can describe not only the large number of logos but also other kind of things which annoying us.

Logorama

Hello.  Recently it's been cold.
I have had very hard time in waking up.  Today, I'll write about "Logorama," we watched last week.

I had never seen the movie until I watched it last week.
The first thing that surprised me was that the cars, buildings, characters and other things were logos of companies in the world.
There are about 3000 logos used in the movie, and I know many of them but don't know all of them of course.
In the movie, it seems to be emphasized that there are a lot of logos in the world and they are made under very detailed intention.
They are very colorful and impressive to attract people.
In addition, more importantly, the movie shows how significant and the universality of logos.
Logos and also all marks around the world have each meaning that is understandable beyond language.
For example, when you use a restroom, you never be confused with which side you should go even if there are no words in the entrance.

October

It's the end of the October now.
Autumn, my favorite season is about to end...
But my cash card is coming back next week!! Hooray!!
Now I'll be able to eat something other than moyashi and onions!
The next thing I have to do is remake my train card,  so that I don't have to pay 200yen every time I go to Shibuya.

It started getting cold outside, so I'll be careful not to catch any cold.
I don't want to miss any more IE classes.

Improvement on my driving

About one month ago, I wrote about starting to go to driving school.
This time, I will write about my improvement on driving.

Four days ago, I took a test for pre-driver's license.
People who have passed this test are allowed to drive on public roads, not inside school.
I passed the test, so I can practice driving on public roads with teachers in my left side of course.
Before taking the test, I hadn't thought that I could pass it with only one challenge because I had no confidence in driving at all.
Contrary to my expectation, the result was good, but this is not a real driver's license, so I'll do my best and finish the final stage.

Logo

Logorama is a short animation movie that won the Academy.

This movie told me that sometimes logos are really helpful for us. Thanks for many logos appeared in the movie, we could know, without any explanations, that strange buildings were a family restaurant, pizza restraint or a fast food store, or that the stuff which Donald stole was nuclear material and material which might cause biohazard. But I also think that too many logos in the same place at the same time will confuse us.

Anyway, I could enjoy watching. I like this film.

Movie at Shibuya!

Last Wednesday, I went to movie theater around Shibuya Station with one of my friend, Haruka. We watched a famous film, which was “Rurou-ni-Kenshin ~The End of Legend~”. I have never watched the former series of that, yet I really had a good time. Fortunately, the movie was structured for people who didn’t know the detail plot, including me, so it was easy to understand. In addition to that, the movie was full of action scene and that was so exciting that I was watching without blinking. Despite that the actors which were appeared in the film were all famous entertainers, that film gave me the feeling of being at a live performance, I thought. What's more, every Wednesday is always lady’s day, so we could watch cheaper.
That day was raining all the day, and we were really tired, but we were very glad to share such interesting and attracting film with my friend.
Yesterday, I heard the news that my favorite music group, BUMP OF CHICKEN would make a live-viewing movie in December, 8!! I really want to check it out, so if there are any chance to do that, I hope so.

About LOGORAMA

I watched a short film which was called “Logorama” during IE class. I’ve never watched this video before, so I really enjoyed it, but there were some violent scenes. The most impressive point of this video was all things which appeared in the scenes were made up of logo of world’s popular company. Some logos in the film were familiar to me, so searching logos which were in Japan was also exciting while I was following the story.
The main story of this film was the battle between police and terrorist, and this story was taken place at Los Angeles in the US. Donald McDonald appeared as a terrorist, and the police were Michelin. As the story went, the battle of them got serious. McDonald tried to bring out nuclear materials and planning to destroy the world, and the police was struggle to make him stop.
When I watched this film, I was misunderstanding that the producer of this movie got allowance from all companies to use their logos in this film, but surprisingly, the producer didn’t take permission to use those, according to the website. But I thought that not getting the permission from company could make this film more creative and have a strong message. The way to put logo on the scene was also well considered. The McDonald is the most famous fast food store in the world, and it still makes advance all over the world, just like a wicked ruler appeared in the film. I received this expression as an irony to huge force of American culture.

LOGORAMA

HELLO!
It's a little bit warmer than yesterday, but still cold.

Today's topic is "Logorama", a short film about fifteen minutes. This film has won the Academy Award for Short Animated Film in 2009. The characteristic of this film is that all of the characters, buildings and also even landforms are displayed in company logos which do really exist. At first when I saw this film, I didn't get the meaning of what the producer wanted to tell us. It was just a funny story using lots of logos for me. However, the impact of each logo came in to my mind and there were many logos I know and I don't know. I thought that for most of the companies, logo that represets them have an important role in the society. We are able to know what company easily by seeing only the logo. For the companies, how to make a logo very interesting and unforgettable is the way to become a world wide scale company.
Lastly, I'm very sorry for middle-aged Pringles,Spokes Candy and Bibendum that had a bitter fate☹

Logorama

Hi!
Im going to talk about really interesting short movie called "Logorama". This short movie won the Academy price in 2009.

In this movie, there were over 2500 logos appeared. Most of them were extremely famous ones and familiar to us. However, I felt something strange when I watched this movie because I didn't remember the company's name. Of course I have ever seen these logos. After watching movie, the thing that I noticed is that how the logos influenced on our brains. They effecte d our brains and mind directly and strongly. As a result, wb can remember the company. Especially, using unique shapes and colors are absolutely important. Such as MacDonald, which used clear red and yellow colors. When we recognized these colors,  our brains might decide it is MacDonald. This movie told me interesting thing like this.

English conversation

Hi, today I wanna talk about online English conversation lessons.
Yesterday I found a pop-up which appeared on my screen when I search a movie for videojug activity.
It said that we can take English conversation lessons through the Internet.
The first two lessens were free.
So I resisted immediately.
What I had to do was only to answer questioner about basic personal information.
It took only about 5 minutes.
Fortunately, I could take lessons after a few hours.
The lesson was helpful.
I wanted to prepare for my IELTS test which is waiting for me on this Saturday.
I wanted to speak a lot before the test.
Therefore, the opportunities which I can talk in English were valuable.
The teacher was Philippine and has strong accent, but she was a nice teacher.
I'll try second lesson today:)

Interesting points of sports festival in my high school

In my high school, sports festival is held every year. Sports festival is one of the biggest events and many students look forward it. Also, many people come to see it.

All grades are divided into four groups. Then, a ceremony celebrating the establishment of a team is conducted. Each group decides the theme of their dance and we start practicing. Our main practice is dance but we also practice other athletic contests. It is hard but we enjoy it.

Well, I want to talk about interesting points of this sports festival.

First one is that we dance a folk dance. Boys make a circle inside and girls make it outside and dance together. We practice it in our P.E. class. We dance various kinds of folk dances so it is hard to learn choreography. But practice is interesting.

Another one is that we wear yukata. The reason why we wear it is we dance Bon dancing at the end of the sports festival. Before sports festival, a lecture about the way of wearing a yukata is given. Many students take part in it. I joined, too and also I learned it from my grandmother. It is difficult to wear yukata by myself. But I don’t wear yukata so often in my daily life so I think it was good experience for me. Also, yukata is sold in the school in the time. There are many kinds of yukata so we can enjoy choosing it. In Bon dancing, we can see other students’ yukata. It is pleasant to see them. I think it is also good experience to dance Bon dancing. It’s an important Japanese culture so we should experience it as Japanese.

I like these interesting points. I think they are one of the traditions of my high school. I hope these traditions are passed on to the next generations.

LIVE

Last Saturday I went to small live house to see my old friends band's live. The band consists of 3people and their elementary school, junior high school and high school were the same.
I didn't went to local junior high school and that day I could see many old friends for the first time in six years. I was so grad to feel nostalgic for the atmosphere.
The live was awesome. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to make sounds by only 3people but sounds were very delicate and clear. I could feel their tension easily by their voice or behavior, so I got nervous too.
If I have a chance to go their live again, I'd love to. And I want many people to listen to their music.

Book Report

I'm sorry for forgetting writing about the book I am reading. I'm reading "The Catcher in the Rye". I have read half of the book. I enjoy reading this book. The main character is always angry at adults and society and he is critical for anything. There are feelings peculiar to the teenager through the book. I'm also teenager. So I can understand these feelings. But I think that he is foul-tongued. I'm sometimes surprised at his words. Although I have to read the other half, I want to do my best for book report.

The Lost Thing

I’m going to write about “The Lost Thing.”

At the beginning of the story, a man was collecting bottle tops at the beach, he found a strange creature, which no one seemed to notice. He called it ‘The Lost Thing.” Then he talked to it and soon they became friendly. Later he started to look for the place that the creature came from. Although it was very difficult, finally he could find a special place where creatures like “The Lost Thing” are living happily.

I think the thing that is lost is interaction. In this movie, people at the beach seemed to concentrate on doing their work and have no interest in other things, inclu ding “The Lost Thing.” Also, at the man’s house his father was watching TV and mother was reading a newspaper. So they weren’t interested in the creature and what he was talking. That is, today people were absorbed in their work or hobby so much that they are forgetting the importance of interacting with other people. Probably Shaun Tan wants us to recollect it.

Logorama!

Hi,
today this is from my hometown.
It is too cold here. I was surprized when I arrived and got off the train.

I watched the movie logorama again and again.
First of all, I think they used many logos effectively in terms of its shapes.
They described everything naturally by using only logos; vehicle, guns, mountains, and road.
And they did in terms of meanings as well.
For example, I found that the logo of k mart fell to the ground.
As you know, k mart had gone bankrupt actually.
In addition, Donald faced the logo of weight watchers.
It was funny, wasn't it? maybe Mcdonald's makes people gain weight. lol
And also I felt something funny when the Hollywood sign fell down.
I cannot explain well but I think it could be an irony from the animator, who is French(and also this animation is made in France).
I felt that this animation is parody of Hollywood movies.
Hollywood movies are always one pattern compared with British or French movies using guns, car crush, and exaggerated actions on a too large scale like this animation.
It seemed that they want to make the animation more like "Hollywood movies" deliberately and satirized them.

From the another view point, I think the message from the animator was the fact that we watch everything through the filter that we are imprinted unconsciously.
I mean we have images for almost everything.
For example, we can easily link a clown and something scaring,a man with beard and someone who is indecent, gun scene and Hollywood movies, or American people and first food.
I think the facts makes this movie more funny.
The logo characters could be funny because we thought that they fit to each roles.

In addition, I think the BGM which was used at the end of it had a message.
The lyrics was that "I dont want to set the world on fire."
Logos represent companies and there were a lots and lots of logos in this movie and the same is in real world. There are too many companies here and they are competing each other.
The world is on fire actually!
The ending was that everything sank under the black liquid and it got to be silent.
It got to be not on fire.

The Lost Thing

I'm very very very sleepy now, but I'll write about the short film, "The Lost Thing."

One summer day, a boy finds a strange big creature on the beach.
Nobody seemed to notice it was there and lost. It was "The Lost Thing." He started to find it's owner, whereabouts. They went to a government agency to ask for a help, but it was a place to forget and leave behind "The Lost Thing." He was given a card and searched for the place which the sign pointed at. Finally they came to the right fantastic world for "The Lost Thing."

I thought that this film was describing the present day. As we live in this busy society, there are many important things which we have forgotten. We have lost what is really precious for being a person. I think that is "My true self." "The Lost Thing" gave me an opportunity to reconsider who I really am.

My new computer

I'm sorry to be late.

Last week, my father bought me a computer!

I used my father's computer so far. But he always use it to do his work, so I could not use it independently.
I asked him to choose the best one because I don't know about computers well. I am writing this blog on the new computer at once. I am not accustomed to use it, but I like it and named it haruo.

I want to learn to use it well, and do many work with this computer!

The lost thing

Today I would like to think about "the lost thing".

The main character of the story was a boy who is full of curiousity. One day, he found something which he called "the lost thing" and no one about it except him. He get along with it, and study it to take it to the place where it should be. He finally found the place where was separated from the real society and was full of dream. Then he left there sadly.

I believe that "the lost thing" represent the richness of our mind. People forget to imagine and dream because they are too busy to work efficiently. So they could not care about "the lost thing" and the boy is forced to forget it by the society.

Therefore, I believe the author wants us to learn the importance of the richness of the mind. This video is so meaningful for especially Japanese. We have to remember to have a dream through this video.

The Lost Thing

This short film story was created by Shaun Tan. A man found a strange creature on the beach. The creature had no places to go back, so the man took it to his home. And he decided to find its home. He tried hard to find its home, but he couldn't easily. Finally he could find out its real home. Then the creature went back home happily.

When I finished watching this film for the first time, I couldn't understand what the animator try to tell us. It was very difficult for me.  I thought about it for a while. I think the lost thing means something around us. I don't know what it is exactly, but something we lost before we know it. Many many things are changed as we grow up. So it may be some lost thing there. I think the animator tries to tell that thing to us.

Book Report

I'm sorry. I was forgetting to write about the book I'm reading for the book report.
I'm reading "1984" by George Orwell. It is a story about a near-future world. People are monitored by government in the world described in the novel. I think the story is a little bit serious and difficult because it's ralated to criticism against the government. However, as I read this book, I gradually get interested in the story. So I'm enjoying reading it. I want to do my best to write good Book Report.

The Catcher in the Rye

I chose The Catcher in the Rye for my book report. I only read about 20 pages or less so I don't know much about it yet. But I can tell that I'm already liking this book. The style of writing is quite childish? I don't know how to describe it. But it's definitely easy for me to read.
Holden Caulfield, the main character in the novel is always angry and rebellious for irrational things that maybe we all kinda felt at some point when we were young. So I can understand his feelings. I'm feeling good about this book. However, I can't find its movie so I have to read it really thoroughly. I'll try my best anyway!

LINE

Hello!  This is Shinnosuke.  I've almost run out of my topics, so I'll write about LINE.

I sometimes wonder whether LINE will replace e-mail someday.  As everyone knows, LINE is an application where we can exchange short messages for free.  Today, so many people use this application, and lately they have had less chance to use e-mail.  They use LINE more often than e-mail because they think LINE is more convenient than e-mail.  Now, I'll write donw some of its advantages.  First, we can exchange messages faster.  In LINE, users share the same screen, and each message is very short.  If two users see the same screen at the same time, the exchange becomes faster, almost in real time.  Next, LINE is very attractive for people, especially young people.  LINE provides users with very unique and cute stamps and makes them feel as if they were chatting with each other face-to-face.  However, it is not true that we don't use e-mail at all.  We often use e-mail when making contact with teachers and other people in polite situations.  LINE lacks politeness.  In my conclusion, LINE will not take the place of e-mail, though the use of e-mail has been decreasing.

The lost thing

As the title is just it, this story is about a "lost thing".
One day a man met a mysterious creature by the sea.
Nobody realized the existence of it because everybody were busy,
and anybody didn't come back to take it.
They played together and then he felt sorry and took it to his house.
His parents also didn't realize it in the beginning and said that he should take it away.
So he hide it and began to find place where it had to belong with.
Finally they found the place.
They said goodbye.
This is the story.

I think the "thing" that is "lost" is which is in everywhere around us but we forgot already or cannot realize in this busy modern life.
The "lost thing" was described as somehow lovely and cute which we have to cherish.
Society is changing at all times.
We are getting busy.
We got many useful new things. It can be new technology, new custom, or new way of thinking..
Then we desert many things.
But there are a lot of things, thoughts, concepts, images, or believes which we don't have to forget.
I think all of theses things can be the "lost thing".

The animator want us to realize the existence of them.
He want us to stop to find and remember the thing we lost but must not forget.
And also we need time to stop and think about something in this busy world.

The best

Wednesday was my birthday. This year's birthday was a lot different from previous birthdays. This is because that it was the first time to reach my birthday without my family.

In the morning, IE members said happy birthday to me and felt happy. After the class Shiori asked me to go somewhere to have lunch and went to Eggs n' things, the pancake restaurant. I've always wanted to go there so I was happy to eat the pancake. However, we ordered one pancake respectively. Which was a mistake.

Knowing that the pancake has lots and lots of whipped cream on top, we ordered two pancakes. It was too much whipped cream. I thought I would be able to eat up everything because I like sweets, but I lost the game. I said sorry to Mr. Whipped Cream and left the store.

In the afternoon, I had lacrosse meeting. It lasted until about 9 o'clock. I was wondering that my birthday will end by the time the meeting finished. After gathering everything that we used for the meeting and cleaned the room, the room got dark and some of my teammates came into the room holding a hole cake with some candles on it.

I was really surprised. I cried. I was so happy to be celebrated by the wonderful teammates. They gave me birthday presents. I got a Doraemon stuffed animal, an electric kettle which boils water in short period of time. I don't know why they gave me Doraemon but he's so cute. I placed him beside my pillow. For the electric kettle, since I'm living alone, I was always having hard time boiling the water. I've always wanted an electric kettle. They knew what I really needed and wanted.

I'm so happy to have such wonderful friends here in Tokyo.  This was the best birthday ever!!

The lost thing

The story was simple when it comes to write down. A boy found strange creature that seemed to be llost and tried to find tha place where creature should be.
Actually I couldn't find out what the movie wanted to say, but now I think the lost thing is our time or room for enjoying something that is not must for our life. (Hobbies or kind like that)
In the movie boy's parent wouldn't see or think about the creature and were busy to read a news paper or watch the TV. It means I think,  they are busy to follow up this changing world. There was no room for playing, enjoying something, or thinking about the thing that isn't necessarily need for our daily life. Too busy.
Sometimes I felt being pressed by time or a lot of things to do and can't have time to calm down.
Many people in this rapidly changing world should have something that makes us feel relax or forget everything. That is the lost thing I think.

"the thing"

I will talk about the movie clip called ‘The Lost Thing’ that we watched last week. First of all, Mr. Armstrong listed up the questions that we had to think about while watching. I tried hard to keep up with the story and try to find the answers. But at first, I had no ideas what the answer might be. I had to think for a while.

A man found a mysterious being on the beach. It was big and red, had many legs like an octopus. He was curious to know where it belongs. He went to search for its home and finally found the place where it belonged.

The quote, “I noticed that kind of thing less and less these days. Maybe there aren’t as many lost things around. Or maybe I just stopped noticing … too busy doing other stuff, I guess” has a strong message. I think the ‘thing’ is not really a visible thing but a feeling or something that we cannot actually see. Feelings which we often don’t realize living in this busy world. And feelings which many people are indifferent to.

The Lost Thing

The short movie whose name is "The Lost Thing" is absolutely interesting. A man in this story found a strange animal on the beach. He didn't what it is. However, through the life with this animal, he noticed that it is the lost thing because nobody couldn't realize its existence. Finally, the lost thing went to place where alot of strange animals live. I guess this movie symbolizes modern society. We always do something and be busy. There is no time to find important things and they become the lost thing. We couldn't find out them and ignore because of busyness. This is the modern society. Thanks to this movie, I can reconsider about my life.

Happybirthday:)

I am sorry for sending too late.
Happybirthday Saki!:-)
Ilove you.
We could enjoyed at the cafe.
But...I don't wanna eat sweat pancakes anymoreand. :-/

It's getting cold and cold these days...
I can feel that winter is almost there.
Winter is my favorite season.
I can be so happy when it's cold but I'm in kotatsu.
When it's cold outside, I can wear coat so I don't have to think what to wear inside.
I also love Christmas. I think I'm going to be working on this coming Christmas, but Christmas makes me so excited.
My birthday is in December, I'm excited for it as well.
And oomisoka, and oshyougatsu....
So many things I love in winter.
Which season do you like the best? Why?
Let me know if you have your opinion:)

I'm going to sleep... Good night.

The Lost Thing

Hi I'm Ryoto.
Today I would talk about "The Lost Thing" the movie I saw last week.
In this story, a boy found something that looks like a crab with a red armor carrying with bells on a beach. He tryed to find the place where the creature was but couldn't. That day he found a place where that kind of creatures where condemned. Although he went there, he decided not to leave the creature there by being told that  he shouldn't. The man who said that also imformed him the place he should go. The boy and the creature went to the place, and found many kinds of creatures living comfortably. He left his creature there and finally separated with a sad mood.
The lost thing in this movie is the red creature but I think the animator wanted us to know something else. It is that there are many things around us that we don't notice that it is there because of the reason that we are too busy. These days we are too busy that we don't notice the imortant things that are just near us and I thought that we have to think more about it.

Snowboarding ♡

There are some problems in my computer! I cannot use internet ...
I don't know what should I do...
Is there anyone who is strong about computer?
Please help me...

In my hometown, Nagano prefecture, has many snow mountains
so I can go there easily.
In winter season actually I go there almost every week with my friends
I cannot drive but they pick me up in front of my house and take me there by car!!
They live in Nagano so they are good at driving  in heavy snow
Actually one of them is track driver
Do you remember last year'a heavy snow? Then Nagano prefecture got the heaviest snow among Japan but on the day we went to a snow mountain for special soft snow~♡
I know we are crazy
Perhaps we could die...
Actually we could not go back to home in the day...
But the snow was amazing

It is almost 1 o'clock ..
Good night and see you tomorrow

Weekend with good movies

Last weekend, I watched two movies.
One is one direcion's concert film. I watched this with my friend on Saturday. Since this movie was showed only 2 days and they didn't visit Japan in this movie's tour, I was really looking forward to watching this movie. Then, it was amazing and awesome. In fuct,I couldn't have thought about anything but this movie  until I fell asleep. Now, I'm looking forward to going theit concert and seeing them directly on March 1st!!
Another is Doraemon~stand by me~. I watched this with my parents. Though I'd heard from my friends who had watched this that it was impossible to suppress crying, I hadn't believed it until this started. However what they've said was truth and I cried several time because I often sympathize with the characters of it. After it finished, I found that there were many people who had a handkerchief in their hands and crying. I thought that Doraemon was the very anime loved by most people regardless of age.

Chocolate Paradaise :)

Hi! This Wednesday, I went to MAX BRENNAER with my mother. Do you know MAX BRENNER? It's the chocolate bar at Omotesando. All food are made with chocolate. This shop is very popular among especially young woman. I wanted to go to MAX BRENNER for the long time, but there is always a very long line of waiting people in front of the shop. And at last, my dream came true;) As I expected, we waited for a while, but only 20~30minutes! We were very lucky! We ordered Chocolate Chunk Pizza and Chocolate Banana Waffle. It was very sweet and yummy! I was so happy to eat them:) If you have never been there, you should go and eat chocolate. And if you go there, I recommend the morning of the weekdays. This is because there are relatively less people.

Reading

Unfortunately I hardly have any events or club activities that can be written on this blog, This time I'm gonna write about book writer I'm interested in. She is Shion Miura and famous for her book  Mahoro ekimae series or hune wo amu. Both books were filmed after published. Actually I have read later one but I want to read other stories.
In fune wo amu, there are no big adventure, murder or accidents like that. This is the story about person who try to make big paper dictionary and the story about people around him. There is just a human relationship story but when I finished reading this, I felt something heart warming feeling. I can't explain exactly what was that.
Also on this weekend, the latest story of Mahoro ekimae series will be on screen. I watched the first one but not second and haven't read the original book so before watching the newest one I have to watch and read. Oh my God I have a lot to do this weekend.

By the way Happy 19th Birthday Saki!

I'll write about the lost thing later, good night.

The Lost Thing

Hi, this is Shiori. Today, I talk  about the short movie, "The Lost Thing".
Hero is a boy who is always pick up something on the  street, beach. Someday, he found something strange at the beach. It was like an animal and he was interested in him.  However, everyone around him ignored  him.  He realized that this creature was thrown away by the human. Finally, this creature went to another world by themselves, but sometimes he thought about the things which people forgot.
After watching this film, I thought this creature exist in the real world. It may not be the creature like this movie, but something important was forgotten by human. Why people lost things? It's because we should input something new into our mind. Moreover we spent very busy  time. We can't mention all things. Me  too, I always forget the precious memory. Japanese people lose our own spirit I think. Losing something can't be avoided. However, we have a responsibility to take over our own spirit and culture.  We have to enjoy now and remenber the task for people in the future.

My impression of The Lost Thing

First, I’m going to write about the plot of this story.

A boy was walking along the beach. Then, he found a certain thing. It looked like not only a thing but also a creature. When he talked to it, it suddenly started moving. They played together. After that, he visited a man whose name was Pete and looked into that thing with him. They couldn’t get certain result but they supposed that it was just playing lost. One day, he received a plate on which strange arrow was drawn. This arrow was drawn on various spots and he and the thing followed them. Then, they found a place where many things were living in.

I think the “thing” that is “lost” is “liveliness”. People in this video look always tired and they don’t show their smiles so much. I supposed it is because their heads were full of working at all times and they forgot enjoying something. Also, when I watched this video, I felt there wasn’t a pleasant atmosphere in people’s daily life. But when I saw the world where many things were living in, I took in their liveliness. Compared to the human’s world, they looked they led a free and easy life. It seemed that they were enjoying their life.

I suppose the animator wants to say people forget to enjoy their life because of being busier than the past. I assume the reason why the animator described human’s world and things’ world is that to compare these two worlds. Human’s world looked tired and depressed. On the other hand, things’ world looked happy and cheerful. I think the animator wants us to make much of enjoying our life and also, make our life happy.

The lost thing

I'll write about "the lost thing". This story begins at beach. The boy found the strange creature there. It was like a crab and an octopus. He looked for the owner but could't. Then he found an utopia for such a creature. It went there and bided farewell to him.

The creature is thing which is lost. It is thing which was forgotten and thrown away be people. The author wanted to show something that you have forgotten, I think. He also wanted us to remember the lost things.

Debate

Recently, I devoting myself to Debating. That's because I will officially join in the tournament at the first time in this weekend . It feels like really fun for me, but the tournament is high level one, so I have to make a lot of efforts. Anyway, I have to join in the preparation every day so in honest, I'm nearly dying because preparation continues to 10:00 o'clock. However, it gives me a kind of challenge and confidence for me. So I promised myself to do my best.
With my club mate Chisato!

Find the lost things

I guess the strange creature represents what we’re pretending not to see or completely don’t notice.
Many things around us always try to make us forget ‘the lost thing.’ The key to deal with the lost thing in proper way does exist around us but is a bit hard to find. Sometimes we have to be careful to find our own ‘lost things’ and realize what is precious and what is valueless for us. That’s what that film wants to tell us, I think.

Nabe Party in Shibuya!

On Wednesday, I went to a nabe restaurant, which was called “Nabezou” in the Shibuya with a member of Oxford language program in this summer. We held a party to celebrate our success in a Hertford College in England. At the restaurant, we enjoyed Sukiyaki and Shabushabu. I also enjoyed chatting with my friends and we had quite a good time reminiscing about trip to England.

In the UK, all of us bought sweatshirts which were written “Oxford University” logo, and we were planning to wear the shirts when we meet the next time. Of course I wore it. When I saw everyone wearing that shirt yesterday, I felt that cooperative spirit of us and I was a little moved. At the same time, I felt like going back to Oxford again.

Although we had no time to interact each other before the trip to England, we could make friends through this program very smoothly. I think this is the most amazing point. Among the member, there were many students older than me, but they were really good to me. If there are any chance to gather again, I want to join and meet my friends.

About The Lost Thing

I watched a short movie which was produced by Shaun Tan during IE class. I’ve never checked it before, so I really enjoyed and also I felt something beyond my expression. I want everyone to know that movie because it gives us something important thing we tend to forget in our daily life.

Please let me introduce the rough story. It began when a boy, who were the main character of that video, had found “the thing” on the beach. “The thing” looked like quite strange and standing all alone because no one didn’t care about it and even notice it. He felt it pity and decided to take “the thing” to his home. However, his parents didn’t accept it and told him to return to the former place. After that, he tried to put “the thing” to a company which was on the TV. When he asked the company to keep it, he was talked to by tiny creature. According to him (or her?), it recommended him to deposit “the thing” to the other place, and gave him a key. He and “the thing” arrived the designated place and the time to say good-bye had come. The place was full of strange creature, but they seemed to have fun. Even now, he sometimes think about “the thing”.

I guessed Shaun Tan wanted us to look out carefully if there were any “lost things” around us. The “thing” that was lost might be “the mind to look around yourself”, I think. Almost all of people are too busy doing various stuff to care about other things, recently. What is worse, we cannot remember even the fact that we are lost. I think this is very sad. The older we getting, the more things we’re forgetting. This is the natural thing, but I think we can make an effort to keep our important memories in our mind. I want to do it because it may be really precious memory in my whole life.

Wallet

Last Sunday, I lost my wallet.
My student ID is in it, so is my cash card and my train card.
Since I live alone, it's a serious problem.
I borrowed some money from my sister that lives in Tokyo, where her company is.
I have to survive with 10000yen until my cash card is re-made.
Next time I buy a wallet, I'm going to choose the one with chains.
I will stop putting my wallet in my side pocket.

I'm going to live like Robinson Crusoe for some weeks...
