Last Tuesday, we wacthed "Mermaid by Osamu Tezuka."
So, I will talk about it.
This story is about the boy who likes imagination.
It begins with the scene that a boy saved the fish. The fish became a female mermaid, and they came to love together. The boy showed her to his parents, but they couldn't see her. Because mermaid was just imagination of the boy. The soceity prohibitted people from daydreaming, so they tryed to stop him daydreaming in various ways. Finally he couldn't remember mermaid, and the mermaid returned back a fish; her origin figure. The boy and she disappeared below the sea.
I think the last scene expressed the boy's death. The boy died because of such experiments by society. Why did they forbit daydreaming? Because they were afraid of rebellion. They wanted to control people. Osamu Tezuka wanted to warn about psychic violence of society.
His all works are full of imagination! He would have wanted to insist on importance of imagination.
It is interensting for me to read each opinions about this movie.
Have a nice Golden Week!
