(1)Main Characters:
Desma is a girl with black hair who doesn't seem to have many friends and like talking, which probably causes her to look ugly. Although she is a little shy, she loves entomology and studies it using real insects like moths. She is searching for a subject for the coming science contest where the winner can take the golden trophy as its prize.
Celestine is also participating in the next gathering for the same purpose as Desma's. She appears blond haired, modest and so much prettier than other ordinary girls (this is MY opinion, though).
Finally, the chief character Hugo is born out of a tree so sticky that when Desma sees him coming out, she stands still amazed at the sight of it. He has a huge pair of wings on his back and each time, tries to touch someone's face or cheek dazedly.
(2)The relationship and the story:
Desma and Celestine are originally friends but it seems that a gap arises between the two girls when Desma devotes herself to the assignment for the contest in her laboratory. They gradually start to hate one another and at last they each become a rival. When Desma makes up her mind to show Hugo in the contest, she tries to keep him in a very small showcase (in which he struggles and falls pale and exhausted). So she asks Celestine to save him in a hurry and she accepts it (with a bit of hesitation). After a while, Hugo comes better and healthier, who again communicates with Desma with his hand on her face. I don't know what it exactly means, but I suppose he displays his gratitude in his own way. Then the story ends, reflecting the figure of Hugo flying away to the moon. I guess everyone must have laughed at this sight.
(3)Comment
It was really difficult to understand all the contents of the film because there was no subtitles and the characters spoke so fast that I couldn't hear any word at all. But I think the movie kind of teaches us the bonds of friendship. If there is a battle against someone, we should never hate him or her and should keep ourselves on good terms for the better. The more we know about each other, the better our friendship must be. Maybe Hugo mediates between Desma and Celestine like they were good partners to each other (but I'm not sure about their past).
