Hugo

This time, I am going to present my own interpretation of Hugo. The main character is probaly Hugo, however, it is also considerable that Desma is the main character, for the story of the movie seemed to go on, mainly the changes of Desma's feelings centred. She was a university student and majored in entomology. She was about to make a new finding of the new species of butterfly, which was none other than Hugo himself. He was in the form of a butterfly. She tried to kill with chemical and keep him into a specimen, but Hugo was not killed, moreover, he turned out to be in the form of a naked human. She was determined to let him stay alive instead of to kill him. Whilst he was alive, he showed her much affection as it is hardly seen amongst us, but Desma herself did not recognise it at all. The relationship between Desma and her classmate, Celestine was that although particularly Desma tried as hard as possible to get along with Celestine only on the apparent surface of their relationship, she must have held some feeling of rivaling her in entomology somewhere in her mind. As the day came closer on which the presentations of the finding of the new species of butterfly were to be made each by Desma and Celestine, the relationship between them got worse and worse. But it seemed to me that Desma one-sidedly worsened it controlled by the feeling of rivaling Celestine so as not to lose the presentation. The result was that on the day of the presentation Desma clearly told Celestine that she needed no help from anyone with the presentation, though Celestine wanted to help her out with it, at which point the relationship between the two seemed to have been split. Whilst, Hugo was kept in the glass case presumably in order for him not to move. Celestine successfully finished her presentation in front of a large audience, but Desma told the audience that she had nothing to report on it. She found him killed, rocked in the case, not actually dead though. Not until then did she realise how cruel a treatment she had done to Hugo. And she asked Celestine for help, but she accepted it, which I think is the true friendship. Hugo revived somehow and she apologised to him for what she had done to him. I summarise the relationship between Desma and Hugo as being ambivalent.
