The theme of the year was "Gilded Glamour". Whether the guests followed the theme is irrelevant, yet that seems to be an ongoing topic every year it happens.
Now, allow me to walk you through some of my favorite looks of the night.
Emma Chamberlain. I'll admit, I may or may not be extremely biased. She's my favorite person on the internet, and she could do no wrong in my eyes. Yet nobody can convince me that she didn't look like an angel that fell straight from heaven. Her going platinum blonde for the night was one of the best decisions she's ever made. The Cartier tiara was the perfect addition to the outfit, making her look like a princess from some european country. Oh, and have I mentioned, her interviews on Vogue were top notch.
Gigi Hadid. She simply ate and left no crumbs. Every year, she makes the entire world gasp with her immaculate taste, and she has done it again. The contrast between the corset and the ginormous puffer jacket. The monochromatic outfit was a major serve and the spikey bun was the perfect cherry on top.
Winnie Harlow. The definition of a goddess. Not quite sure if the snow white heels were the best choice to the outfit but the hair piece was impressive enough to distract me. The unique silhouette of the dress was just as mesmerising. Breathtaking as always.
Dove Cameron. She absolutely understood the assignment. God, the details on her dress! She followed the theme with a futuristic approach, which was something we didn't see on the carpet until she walked in. Her hair and makeup artists also need a raise.
Genesis Suero. Many claim she outdid the A-list celebrities with her dress, and I couldn't agree more. She attended the Met as a reporter yet left the audience stunned. She looked gorgeous with the glistening gold dress. Made me fall in love with her at first sight.
The public complained that most men wore a black suit and a tie and called it a night. I hate to be a Karen, but I too have to agree with the majority. Yet when I saw Evan Mock and Shawn Mendes walk in, my jaw dropped that it broke in pieces. The irregular silhouette of Evan's corset and the detail on his pants. The pink in his hair complimenting the cream yellow. It looked simple yet sophisticated. Now onto Shawn. He looked like a vampire in the best way possible. He was the real life Prince Eric. I never knew he could be a fashion icon until now.
While it was tragic that icons including Zendaya, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Lil Nas X, Anya Taylor Joy and Hunter Schafer were missing, it was absolutely worth it to wake up at 4am to wait for all the paparazzi photos to be posted on the internet. My expectations go up every year, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next year.
