Setting: the town in the America in1936
Conflict: Workers has a conflict with the society in the depression. They were exhausted from the
manual labor or job hunting because the society was so poor.
Climax: Chaplin and his girlfriend got out of the industrialized town, and found the way to send the happy life.
Symbol: The factory symbolizes the fragility of the capitalized society.
Irony: He was so honest and worked very hard, he cannot obtain the enough wage and stable life.
Theme: It was wrong to capitalize and industrialize too much. The amount of people are sacrificed and there are no stability in the movie. People began to think only about their own capital, and it generated the unreasonable society for workers. I believe the director wanted to insist to stop making such a society.
