Modern Times

The setting of this story is a city in 1930s, where many people had difficulty getting the job, or were forced to work hard with low wages.

There is a conflict between chaplin and society. He was working hard at the factory although the work was too tough, and he fought against the police in order to protect the gamin. Also, the gamin was running away from juvenile authorities. It's the conflict between the gamin and juvenile authorities.

At the climax of this story, chaplin and the gamin escaped from the restaurant they would work at.

In this story, Chaplin got his job luckily many times, and it seemed that he and the gamin can live a happy life.

The symbol of this story is many machines. They represents the progress of the city and the negative feeling of people in those days.

I think the theme of this story is that having a strong will is important. Both Chaplin and the gamin are in the terrible situation, but they are always loving each other. Probably they are believing they can meet whatever happens and separates them.
