About the Look

The setting of this story was on the Third Avenue and it happened on the warm summer night. This story was told from the point of Omniscient, because there was a sentence that “ …she suddenly thought of jumping off the bridge.” This feeling was impossible to understand just we read. The conflict of this story was a girl against herself. In addition to this, the hitting of the boy with telephone pole was also conflict, literally.

The climax of this story was when the boy hit to the telephone pole. From this action, every situation had changed suddenly, I thought. The smell of the flowers was the symbol for the beginning of love between two of them, I guess. Another symbol of this story was the ugly, gum-metal grey. It was a symbol of girl’s mind which was lack of confidence. The irony of this story was that the handsome sportsman hit the telephone pole, I think. Although he had a nice look, because of looking at her, he turned out to be funny character. That was why I chose this part as the irony.
The main theme in this story was the fact that we couldn’t predict what would happen in our life, and don’t be careless of yourself.
