The Look

It took place on a third avenue at summer night. There are a park and bridge.
I think the omniscient told the story because the story teller knew her feelings.
There was a conflict between the woman and herself. The reason why it can be said is that she felt sorry for herself. She did not satisfied with herself. And another one was between the man and himself. He cannot help not looking back at her, on the other hand, he tried to keep running. Actually he hit poll because of lack of concentration on running .
I think there are a lot of symbols. One of them was flowers. It represented something lively and viable or a hope.
Other is blocks and it can be symbol of sadness or something cool and dark. Both of them were used for illustrating inside of her at that time.
Climax was just when she smiled. The moment that the strain she had felt was released and feelings were changed to be happy was then.  In addition, when she smiled, the tone of this story turned to be bright color.
When it comes to irony, at the beginning she was so depressed, and it seemed so serious as to want to jump off the bridge. However, it was really such a trivial affair that changed her emotion and saved her.
What changed her mind was merely that he hit the poll. I mean it was too easy to be happy after all even though she had felt too bad.
The same is can be said for the theme. I think the author wanted to teach that how silly it is to feel blue because you easily become to able to view it as no problem. And also he taught the importance of a connection with someone when we feel depressed. Even if you worry so much enought to think about death, you can be better if you meet others. Go outside and meet others. Talk to others and have chit chat. I think the theme was something like that.
